Production At World's Southernmost Gas Field Has Begun

Total's subsidiary in Argentina announced Thursday that it has commenced production at the world's southernmost gas development. The offshore Vega Pleyade gas and condensate field is one of the largest gas fields in Argentina, and is located in the Tierra del Fuego region of Argentina. The Total-operated project will have a production capacity of 10 million cubic meters of gas per day (70,000 boe/d).

The Vega Pleyade project is Total's second start-up this year. The Vega Pleyade development consists of a wellhead platform in 50 meters (164 feet) water depth, tied back via a 77 kilometer (48 mile) offshore pipeline to the Total-operated Rio Cullen and Cañadon Alfa onshore treatment facilities, and was completed in just two and a half years.
