Report Cần Thơ Central General Hospital to Expand and Enhance Medical Services
File photo for reference only Cần Thơ Central General Hospital, located in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta city of Cần Thơ, has announced an expansion project set to span over 3.5 hectares from 2025 to 2030. This project aims to address the rising demand for medical services in the region and further enhance healthcare facilities. Hospital director Nguyễn Minh Vũ outlined plans to develop various departments and establish new units, including pediatric-neonatal care, pediatric heart surgery, and an endoscopy centre. A significant focus will be on advancing organ transplantation techniques, with the hospital aiming to perform its first liver transplant by 2026. As a final-level hospital under the Ministry of Health, Cần Thơ Central General Hospital handles 2,000-2,500 outpatient visits daily, while inpatient numbers range between 1,500 and 1,700. Over the past two decades, the hospital has notably improved the quality of healthcare services, aligning with regional and international standards. The hospital's achievements are manifold. In 2017, it launched a state-of-the-art cardiology centre, pivotal in treating complex cardiovascular diseases and alleviating patient overload at higher-level hospitals. The stroke department and orthopedic trauma centre followed in 2020, helping the hospital earn the Platinum Standard certification from the World Stroke Organisation within three years of the stroke department's inauguration. In 2024, Cần Thơ Central General Hospital achieved a milestone by completing its first kidney transplant in the Mekong Delta, becoming the 26th centre in Vietnam for human organ and tissue transplants. Since then, ten kidney transplants have been successfully performed. Deputy Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee, Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Điệp, highlighted the hospital's dual role as a healthcare facility and a training institution, providing specialized medical personnel to various cities and provinces. She expressed aspirations for the hospital to maintain its leadership in regional and national healthcare systems, advance modern medical practices, and focus on training and retaining high-quality staff to continue its growth and development. Report Architectural Firm Denies Design Changes in Collapsed SAO HQ
BREAKING: Arrest warrants have been issued on Thursday for Italian-Thai boss Premchai Kannasuta and 17 others, including engineers, supervisors, and the joint venture, involved in the State Audit Office building collapse case. The examination of documentary and witness evidence revealed that the construction plans did not comply with ministerial regulations and standards. The elevator shaft core of the building was not located in the center but was shifted to the rear edge, causing the building's center of torsion to deviate from its geometric center. When the building swayed due to the earthquake, the elevator shaft core and the base columns collapsed almost simultaneously, causing the entire building to fall vertically and rapidly. https://x.com/KhaosodEnglish/status/1922956233390293342
