Taking Dog to Europe

Recommended Posts

Hi

Im thinking of getting a puppy and im stumped. The breeds i like such as Boxer and Bulldog seems to have an issue returning them to the Uk as a lot of carriers seem to not transport them due to heat. Is there any carriers you know of that will transport these types to Europe (uk)

The reason for carriers not wanting to take this breed is because of breeds breathing problems.

You sure you want to find one that would and you might be collecting a dead puppy.

Your best bet is to look for carrier that would allow a pup as a carry on luggage, so at least you can sit it with you and ensure its safety

As other poster said, the issue is danger to the dog because of breathing problems. See https://www.avma.org/public/PetCare/Pages/Short-nosed-Dogs-and-Air-Travel-FAQs.aspx for full discussion.

There are other issues as well in bringing a dog -- any breed -- back to the UK. In order to avoid quarantine on arrival you have to have blood samples sent for testing abroad and complete a fair amount of paperwork, the whole process takes about 6 months.

Your going home! Why would you bring a puppy from here to UK. Buy on there. I have my beloved Pit Bull I inherited here and she's has been with me for 3 years. I will be going back home to the USA and will bring her because Thai's don't care for their animals well.

The cost of all papers, shots required and airline ticket to Seattle will be 101,000 baht but she is my family. So, to buy a puppy here is not a good move.

For the money it would cost you could buy a show dog in the UK with full papers I think your idea is a little crazy plus you would have UK quarantine issues if that is where you are heading

Thai Ridgbacks are in the top 20 as the rarest dogs in the world it would make sense if you were to buy one of these in top quality condition as back home if you had two male / female you could breed and make big money. The only issue with them that they are not recognised in the UK so you could not compete in shows such as Crufts ! just a thought !!!!!
