Cabinet to Review Kittiratt's Nomination as Bank of Thailand Chairman
Picture courtesy. Money and Banking The Cabinet is set to discuss the selection committee’s decision to appoint former Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong as Chairman of the Bank of Thailand’s Board during its mobile meeting in Chiang Mai this Friday. Finance Permanent Secretary Lavaron Saengsanit confirmed that Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira had endorsed the selection committee’s choice and forwarded it to the Secretariat of the Cabinet for inclusion in the meeting agenda. However, the decision has sparked concerns among academics and former central bank staff, including four former governors. Critics argue that appointing Kittiratt, seen as closely aligned with the ruling Pheu Thai Party, could open the door to political interference, undermining the central bank’s independence. Kittiratt previously served as Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister under Yingluck Shinawatra’s administration. He was also the chief economic adviser to former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. In related developments, a Finance Ministry source revealed a change in the proposed nominee for the “resourceful person” position on the central bank’s board. Pongpanu Sawetroon, the former Permanent Secretary of Tourism and Sports, has been replaced by Pornanong Budsaratragoon, Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission. The source noted that Pongpanu was deemed ineligible for the role due to his continued involvement on the board of a private company, reported Thai PBS. -- 2024-11-28 -

Used to be one at Preecha Market. Gmap not showing but has a few more listed. Might be worth taking a peek at the listings, if haven't already. -

How much sin sod for 28 yo single mom of 2 Bangkok suburb (Rangsit)
You clearly know nothing about Thai customs. If you don't want to live with your own rug rat, why do you want to have one? -

Sin sod is for the parents, not the wife. Normally when a farang marries a Thai wife he is expected to support her, not swan off around the world without her and contributing as little as possible. -

I agree other girls wouldn't want sin sod but wouldn't I have to pay in other ways like letting her live with me or US visa. Also this girl let me get her pregnant without sin sod (but we lost the baby in September) but now her mother is demanding sin sod. -
