Visa Help - Planning

Featured Replies

Hello!

My wife and I are currently in Thailand on a 90 day non-immigrant O visa single entry - we entered on January 10th. We are taking a trip from March 16th - April 30th/31st - leaving from CNX by airplane to HKK and returning hopefully by bus from Siam Reap to Bangkok. We are leaving Thailand to head back to the United States on April 29th. This trip is also our first in Thailand so we only have one Visa in our passports. We are citizens of the United States.

Does anyone think I will run into problems getting a 30 day visa on arrival at the border to make the difference between the 30th/31st of March and the 29th of April? Any advice would be GREAT!

This community has been great and has helped me a lot! Thanks!

There are no Visas on Arrival available to Americans. Such Visas are only available to citizens of a few countries , cost 1000 Bht and provide a non extendable stay of 15 days.

You should not, however, experience any problem in securing 30 day "visa exempt entries" which can, if required, be extended by another 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900Bht each.

  • You will have no problem getting a 30 day visa exempt entry when you return to Thailand.

Note that the day you re-enter counts as day 1 of the 30 days.

Awesome! Well that's good to know! So it is 1900baht each for the 30 day visa exemption? Do I do that on arrival or ahead of time? I hate to be a miser but is there a cheaper way by any chance?

The visa exempt entry is free (as you do not need to pay for a visa) and will give you 30 days in Thailand. If you wish to stay longer, you can pay 1,900 baht at an immigration office in Thailand for an extension of stay that would give you an additional 30 days (thus total 60 days).

Take note of what elviajero said under his second bullet point. You mentioned in the original post:

If you arrive back in Thailand on the 30th of March on a visa exempt entry, you will be on (a one day) overstay when you leave for the U.S. on the 29th of April. It would be better if you made sure you are coming back to Thailand on the 31st of March.

Please not the glitch in the OP.

So quite sure you mean March 16th to March 30/31.

As already written, March 31 would be the exact arrival date for the 30 day visa exempt.

Hassle free.
