No need to lose sleep over this, not in our lifetime. The same was said about Brazil, and look at what's happening there. I lived in India a few years in the 1970s-80s. Incidents like this were in the newspapers all the time, so it's nothing new. The international press has been picking up these stories occasionally since that well-publicized rape and beating on a Delhi 'bus' a few years ago.
