Hi,

My work permit has been extended until 2017. Submitted all my papers for the visa extension a month ago and got the usual 'under consideration for 30 days' stamp. Was expecting to get the 1 year stamp today as i did last year. Instead they stamped 'still under consideration' and have told me to check back in a week. Is this normal? Should i be worried? Any experience/help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Depends on your definition of "normal". It's apparently not unusual. The same happened to me last time (late 2015) in Phuket, after 5 consecutive renewals within the one month under consideration period.

I was told that there have been changes in where the approvals are made. Phuket apparently has to submit their applications to Bangkok now. In any event, it's annoying, but not a reason for concern, as such.

Thanks fstarbkk. lol@definition of normal.

I will update this thread as and when there is any progress. I did a search ( *after* posting this topic, i admit sheepishly ) and find that this has happened to quite a few posters. Seems like the wheels of bureaucracy grinding away at their own sweet pace.

So a guy from immigration showed up at office today. I wasn't there, so he left a form telling me to go meet the 'investigative officer' on Monday at Chaeng Wattana.

Has this happened to anyone? What can i expect?

Update: met the guy at Chaeng Wattana this morning. Very pleasant, polite chat for about 5 minutes about the work i do and the company i work for. Warm handshake and 20 minutes later i had my 1 year visa stamp. Happy ending.
