Korat Weather: Rain Rain Rain

Featured Replies

what happens to loy kratong festivities if it rains??

what do we do if it rains on our wedding ceremony; its not indoors, but in house yard......or does everything get moved in to someone's house?? (his folks' house is small shack).

korat weather says rain thunderstorms rain etc for the majority of the time we are in thailand.....

the rains have only started here with the cold, wind etc....

muddy dirt roads, no where to go.... time to dig out my embroidery stuff, and journal so i will have something to do..... getting to bangkok for paperwork should be fun and games....

yes.......its pre wedding jitters.... anon is in his hole in the wall room at the moshav, tossing and turning and calling me every five minutes cause he finishes work earlier cause sun sets early so he has time on his hands and nothing to do... he's also worried about paperwork etc...

but the rain, the rain??!!

and paperwork of course not finished......

and my ex is erasing me from extended family events although they (the extendeds) have all called to wish me well, congrats, mazel tovs, etc.... he's the only one frothing at the mouth about my marriage (he ahs a girlfriend living with him four years already, get a grip...)... they couldnt invite me to a bat mitzva or he would refuse to go with my kids.... i feel bad for my ex mother in law, she's really a nice woman wiht a jerky son .... the ex family will be meeting anon on saturday , they want to meet him .

several kibbutz members have had the grace also to wish me well, others of course cant understand why i couldnt find a nice jewish divorcee.... bla bla bla....

jeoulous the lot of them.......

rambling on.

Ramble away bina. :o

Loy Krathong goes on in the rain is all. You'll see that most Thai people overcome the rainy season obstacles quite easily, comes from years of experience.

You'll be alright, and never mind the ex. Some people have very small lives and very small minds.

Bina, as you know thai people are very inventive if things don't go to plan. Plastic tarpaulin/canopy will be found & erected to prevent you being rained out at your wedding. Or something similar will happen. DON'T STRESS. Also, you aren't the fist women in the world who's ex husband gets arsey when she finds someone new. As long as your kids & family know your ok forget about him & his issues. This is time to think about you & Anon not the past or what ever you have to get through once back in Israel.

Enjoy your time in LOS & the BKK side really isn't that hard (just time consuming) I noticed in another thread you have bought heels for the paperwork stuff, a word of advice, don't bother. No one will care what shoes you are wearing so go for comfort over style :o

Do not worry too much about the rain, November is colder but not as rainy here io Korat. Where is Korat are you getting married? Also I would like to wish you the best of luck!

Hi Bina,

first, mazel tov!! Sounds like you have a lot of support so try to not let the negative people get you down!

I dont know about Korat but in the part of the south my bf is from all the village weddings I have been to are under tents outside, have been to muddy ones in the rain, people have wood and cardboard on the gound so its easy to walk, plastic bags on their heads you know, wedding attire. I will be getting married in the south next July and fear I am in for the same fate as it is mid rainy season there. My bfs mom's house is also a shack so if it rains we have the tents!! The big question is will there be karaoke and will you have to sing!! Last wedding I was at had dancing girls to wiggle along with the karaoke!!

Don't worry. The rains should be over unless a stray typhoon hits. Have not seen any major storms on radar north of Bangkok for the last week and don't expect to see any. The forecast is always the same thunderstorms/partly sunny as a CYA thing. All major rain should be over. Most people do set up tent type coverings in any case - to also protect from the sun.

still having give and take about evening party or not... its kind of out of my hands...

Exactly as it should be...just relax and let the Thais manage everything, including rain logistics. Just try to relax and enjoy yourself and this special day!!!

All the best...

In my experience of Thai weddings the groom's family generally puts on the afternoon/evening party. The morning event, which takes place at the bride's house is organized by the bride's family. Since you won't have one there, presumably a close family relative of Anon's will play the part of "brides family".

Dony worry Bina-

Im sure there will be a tent for rain and sun protection. Every Thai wedding Ive been to (including mine) there was some cover.

post pics please!

My village wedding was a fantastic experience and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.. including not knowing what was going on... :o

One thing to remember is not to worry about the wedding and whats going to happen.. everything will be taken care of, so you can relax, and you will be well taken care of, very good hosts the Thais...

most importantly, just enjoy the experience..

Chok dee

totster :D
