PHUKET: -- Police are looking for a group of teens last seen talking to a 29-year-old man whose body was found under a municipal water tower in Phuket Town this morning (Mar 11).

Suthorn Thamta, 59, of the Phuket City waterworks division at 9:10am reported finding the body under one of two water towers, each 25 metres tall, on Damrong Rd.

At the scene, police found one flip-flop in a bush seven metres away from the body and a matching flip-flop on a cross-bream third level of a tower, 12 metres off the ground.

“There are three distinct wounds on the man’s head and a long scrape on the left side of his torso,” said Lt Somchai Nooboon of the Phuket City Police.

“We found B200 inside his pants’ pocket, but no identification.”

However, the man was soon identified as 29-year-old Sompong Wijit, a local resident in the area. He was identified by his own father, Somchai Wijit, 50, who arrived at the scene after being told that a body had been found under the nearby water towers.

"Poor guy. 200 measly baht and a flip flop"

What does that mean? He wasn't robbed.

Accident or Suicide ...... case closed.

Lets hope the poster is feeling all smug pleased with that not very clever and defiantly unfunny remark.

PHUKET: -- The family of a man, whose body was found under a Phuket City Municipality water tower this morning, is urging police not to rule out foul play.

The body of Sompong Vijit, 30, was discovered by a municipality staffer who was walking by the area.

“Yesterday evening, Mr Sompong went out to collect cans and bottles for recycling. When he didn’t return by 10pm, his relatives went out looking for him, but couldn’t find him,” said Maj Somchai Nooboon of the Phuket City Police.
