Thailand sits between the equator and the tropic of cancer. At the equinox, the sun is directly overhead the equator and around 13 degrees from overhead Thailand.

Still feels bloody hot as you say.

Incorrect my friend. At 13 degrees of latitude north of the equator, the sun will be directly overhead Bangkok around 27th April as it tracks toward the tropic of cancer. Then again late in August as it makes its way back again. At both equinoxes, the sun is directly above the equator. At the northern hemisphere summer solstice, the sun is directly overhead through tropic of cancer.

Not the hottest time of year yet. .

I'd recommend the Sun Clock scrensaver from mapmaker.com. The free version is ok in showing the position of the sun as the seasons progress. Interesting to watch while on phone in the office. I liked it so much that I ended up buying it to get the advanced features.

You'll have noticed at noon today that shadows were cast at around 13 degrees from the vertical, 13 degrees being Bangkok's latitude north of the equator, where the sun is now directly overhead. Check again on April 27th.

I checked yesterday and realised I'd made a mistake......

I always chuckle when I see Thai buildings with the long/ short roof, and the short roof is facing north west.

(Would that be called a cantilevered roof?)

Take a great idea and turn it completely opposite of its purpose- install a heater on top of your home.
