500-strong security force to patrol Pattaya Music Festival

PATTAYA:--More than 500 police, soldiers and volunteers will be patrolling area streets during this week’s Pattaya Music Festival.

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh met March 14 with municipal officers, traffic police, rescue squads, and volunteers to plan security for the March 18-20 festival, which spans Beach Road from the Central Road intersection to Soi 4.

Police will patrol the area and establish multiple checkpoints to check for weapons and drugs, as authorities this year have sounded a higher alert after 2015’s Bangkok shrine bombing and the Islamic State group siege on Paris.

First aid stations will be established near the main stage at the Hard Rock Hotel and at Soi 8 and Beach Road. In addition, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation will be on standby to handle emergencies on both land and sea.

Bangkok Hospital Pattaya will be the main recipient of emergency cases brought by ambulance. Anticipating the usual Pattaya gridlock that occurs when city hall closes Beach Road – as it will be from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. all three days – emergency planners have prepped plans to transport accident victims via rubber boat up the coast to get around the road snarls.

This music festival is right up with pattaya songkran when Pattaya is taken over by the Thais. It is bloody fantastic, 6 different stages (I think), also pick up shows with the "pretties" thrusting away on the back, great food. Fun happy Thais everywhere. In western countries they would be charging heaps for tickets for something this big, farang price same as the Thais = FREE.

Thai music rocks. and is amazingly diverse. It is a very well organized event, right along the beach. A great vibe to it.

I am sure though the Thai bashers will hate it, complain about the traffic, the terrible Thai singers, the inconvenience in getting down to the soi 6,7,8 beer bars and coconut bar, the music is too loud etc etc.

There is nothing worse than seeing someone you hate having fun.

This is classic! They can shut down the streets/roads--led by an escort(s) with lights flashing and sirens wailing-- when a minor government poobah or self-proclaimed hiso wants to get from A to B and avoid the hoi-polloi in doing so yet a rubber boat is considered adequate for this event. The mind boggles...blink.png

Maybe the helicopters are already spoken for clap2.gif
