March 21, 201610 yr It is ridiculous to have a one year extension, say for retirement, yet still have to do a 90 day reporting. A yearly reporting would be more than adequate. The extension by default means you are approved to stay in the country. Can somebody get the ear of immigration and save everybody time and money? Or, does immigration make enough money and keep enough Thais employed by processing these 90 day reports to justify continually requiring them?

The 90 day reports are written in the immigration act of 1979. It has not been changed since it was issued. There are several things that should be changed but is as if it has a warning put on it by the establishment and bureaucrats that says do not touch. If it was possible to change it you would think they would of raised the max overstay fine of 20k baht That would of done more good than the banning for overstays or they could of put it in the immigration act.
