Min of Energy launches power saving campaign

BANGKOK, 22 March 2016, (NNT) - The Ministry of Energy launched a power saving campaign, urging the public to cut energy consumption by half from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.

Energy Minister Gen Anantaporn Kanjanarat said the campaign started on March 20 and will conclude on May 20. He explained that the afternoon is the peak period for energy consumption in Thailand and the campaign would therefore be the most effective during that time.

The minister gave a couple of suggestions on energy saving, which included unplugging electronics when not in use and raising the thermostat of air conditioners by one degree Celsius. He revealed that the country's electricity demand is projected to peak at 29,000 megawatts, or 6% higher than last year. Gen Anantaporn expected the campaign to reduce that figure significantly.

He said if the campaign goes well, the Kingdom would be able to avoid producing additional power to satisfy the increasing demand, while ensuring its energy security.

Each 7-11 is using 100 tube lights bah.gifbah.gif inside and 25 Tubes outside and multiply by 7000 stores across the country for 24 hours. sad.pngsad.png

At least 7-11 can replace them with LEDs so that it can consume less power.

There is no questions asked about bigmalls like Siam Paragon uses more electricity than whole Mae Hong Son district. whistling.gifwhistling.gif

First they have to target these shops rather than people living in single rooms with 1-2 lights. gigglem.gifgigglem.gif

Then they should give subsidies to the people consume less than 500 Bhat electricity per month, this will create more awareness.

That is too simple for the Thai Energy Ministry to understand, something more complex where a committee is needed to set up and investigate would be much more acceptable gigglem.gif

Why are the soidogs always laying infront of the doors at the 711? Yup, because lots of cool air come out.

If they used turning doors there would be much less air coming out.

And why is the personell in Foodland wearing bodywarmers? Or all officeworkers wearing long black pants, socks and shoes or even a toxedo?

The government could give the example by showing officials on tv wearing short sleeved blouses.

How about cutting the working day hours or changing the working hours during the hot season? They do this in the Mediterranean why would it not work here? Aah yes, Thainess............ If they really wanted to cut power usage why bring it up now? Why not in December so that companies, government and private sectors had time to think and implement a working solution? Again, we see the country run by childish thinking adults. I actually think that is "Thainess, childish thinking in an adult world".
