After reviewing the goods on sale, government ombudsman Gen. Wittawat Ratchatanan announced items must be sold at the same prices found elsewhere, using a very Bangkok baseline – shopping malls.Full story: http://www.khaosodenglish.com/detail.php?newsid=1458632321 -- Khaosod English 2016-03-

kalbo123
Compared with other international airports I think the prices of food are very reasonable priced in Thailand already.
FloridaExport
I guess that means the airports will lower the rent for the shop owners? Or do we expect them to scrape by on little to no profit while the rich keep getting richer? It's a similar backwards logic that they use for the lottery retailers. Instead of making sure they all get their books at a fixed price, they are told to sell them at a fixed price. Since they are charged exorbitant prices for them, they sell them for more than they are supposed to.

TacoHell
just how many thais or expats eat in the airport? not many That might explain the utter stupidity of global chains like Burger King and Subway setting up shop at Thai airports. They must be seriously thick in the head.
Bangkok Barry
Did AOT get the message? AOT don't set the prices. The individual shops do. And they claim they charge more because of the rent they have to pay. However, I very much doubt that the rents at the airport are higher than the centre of Bangkok.
