Can Farang Ever Be Thai?

Singha Challenge

Recommended Posts

Thailand’s funniest cross-cultural game show, the Singha Taste of Thailand Challenge, hits the road again this November and December in pursuit of the answer to the question: Can farang ever truly behave like Thais? Whether they can or not, the efforts are hilarious as tourists and travellers (and the occasional foolhardy expat) compete against each other to win the hearts and minds of the Thais in the audience and win travel-related incentives, by making fools of themselves.

“We’ve got a great show this year,” said the event emcee Worathep na Banglampu. “We had such fun last year and got a huge response from mates around the region who saw us on the telly that we’ve decided to tighten things up a little bit. We’ve added a few surprises to the game show and our guest artists are some of the best live bands in Thailand,” added Worathep.

This funky, live road show features music from Thai reggae allstars T-Bone, MTV darlings Futon, Tonic Rays (Joe Cummings of Lonely Planet fame), Thai indie godfathers DayTripper, Blues with balls - … er hum Cannonball and Soul with spunk from Diamond Jack Remixed.

The Singha Taste of Thailand Challenge will kick off in Bangkok with a big show outside the Buddy Lodge on Khaosan Road on November 16 before heading north to Chiang Mai (Nov 24), Pai (Nov 26), south to Samui (Nov 30) and finishing up at the Hard Rock Cafe in Pattaya (Dec 3).

In addition the event will be covered via the Internet by www.singhachallenge.com so visit the site for more details…

Hope it is OK to post this here – thought it might be of interest to you…

Can Farang Ever Be Thai?

What's your answer then JD?

if you are a naturalized Thai citizen .... (thanks Noodles/Lacoste)

Thank's for your quick answer, the reason i asked was because you seem very in tune with the Thai people, culture, way of life etc and tend to send out a kind of Thai-like aura when you post. :o

BTW who is Noodles Lacoste? :D

Noodles and Lacoste were members who were banned for harassing another member. The same fate awaits anyone else who tries the same trick.

BTW, can you imagine if a large English company came up with such a thing in England?

Can an Asian be English? Just food for thought.

only if goes out dresssed up in womens clothes, gets drunk, starts a fight then vomits in the taxi on the way home.

Ofcourse an asian can become english, just like blacks can become english. What sort of a question is that??

What if you half asian half english? does that make you not English is you got a citizenship?

Just to name a few…..why farang can't ever be a Thai

-Farangs don’t enjoy having to waste their precious time waiting for folks who turn up half an hour late every time.

-Farangs got used to saying “good-bye I have to go now” to people and not just walk off halfway through a conversation.

-Farangs can’t live with their mother all their life.

-Farangs don’t like to share during meals….what mine is mine!

-Farangs usually don’t ask their unmarried Farang lady friend “And why aren’t you married?”

-Farangs have no need to feel embarrassed about saying “sorry” when made mistakes.

-When make a mistake say ‘sorry’, Farangs don’t give a darned about who is older than who etc..

-Farangs don’t swim with all their clothes on

And

-Farangs don’t like to be nicknamed like …..Porn, Jum, Golf, Bowling, Benz, Orange juice, Ped(duck), Kob(toad), or Dum(black/stupid)...
