Hi all

This is my 2nd extension of stay and I'd like to share a couple of points

1) The IO did not accept updated Kor Ror 2 which I got from Amphur for Thb 10. She said the original one (+ copy) is sufficient. If you don't have the original then you should get the updated copy.

2) Since I have never been reported by our house master, I was anticipating a query for TM30 and fine of B800 or so, but I was not asked for that!

3) There was no problem with my hand drawn map or our photos with same clothes on. Also, I was not asked to bring in any witness.

4) I asked the IO if it was OK to withdraw some of the money (from 400k), she said No and suggested to wait till the application is approved.

Then when we're at the supervisor's desk, I asked her the same question and she said if you must then wait for a week and withdraw some but not all of the money. I asked again if it was OK to withdraw about 150k, she said yes but after a week and in small installments over few days. So, I will be taking some money out as 'advised'.

I'll update this post again in a month's time when I'll know about the result of my extension application.

Let's hope for good.

Cheers!

Vin

One reason some IO's are so 'fussy' about the paperwork is to ensure the application is accepted by the officers that sign it off. It is highly unlikely that an application is denied once the IO is happy with the paperwork. The main reason for waiting until the application is formally approved is in case there is a problem and the process had to be restarted. The basic rule is that the money is in your account for two months prior to the application date, so if you make a withdrawal, and the process has to restart, the 400K wouldn't have been in the account for the required two months for the new application. That is probably why she said to wait a week before taking any money.

There have been reports of immigration checking the account balance during the approval period. A little money taken out for living expenses would be allowed but taking all of it out would not be accepted.
