I have Windows 10 and for some reason Cortana didn't work properly and found out it was due to the fact that she couldn't get my location. I went to Settings and found out that the Location was off so I tried to turn on the location button but it wouldn't move to be turned on. I've tried everything except for re-installing Windows 10 which I don't want to do. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance.

On the Privacy => Location page there is a location button (marked Change) which must be set to "On" and (below it) a location Switch which also needs to be "On".

Did you check both?

To get Cortana today, you’ll have to use of the same trick Windows Phone users have been using for more than a year. Change the Windows region setting to a country where Cortana is available and you’ll be able to use this feature.

I have my location set for the USA but the button will still not move to the on position

If you have changed your location then you need to do a reboot; better to do a full shutdown and then restart.

If the location has always been set to USA, try resetting to a different location where the service (Cortana) is available, reboot and try that.

Thanks for replying. I've set the location to Canada and set the time to Canada but Cortana can't get past the language that she wants to speak I also added Canada English and made it the default but when Cortana comes on she wants to know what language that I want to use and of the language is USA English and nothing else. I then reset it back to USA but then she keeps asking me for the location which wont work as the button is stuck. This is of course I have shut down the computer after changing the region and language. I'm baffled

You don't need to set the time to Canada, but unfortunately I can't help with why you can't change your location. My 7 or 8 pcs don't have this issue.

What about resetting your PC, if that's so important for you? It doesn't take long, you can keep all your files and it's like a fresh install.
