PHNOM PENH: Customs police at Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednesday arrested a Thai woman with 2.6 kilogrammes of cocaine disguised as candy, The Phnom Penh Post reported, citing police and airport sources.

The suspect flew into the airport on Wednesday on flight QR 970, from Doha, Qatar, police said.

However, police said the suspect was originally coming from Bahrain, from which she departed on Tuesday. Police requested media not publish the suspect’s name due to the ongoing investigation.

When her cylindrical candy boxes raised suspicions, customs officials opened them to find small bundles inside filled with a white powder, which further examination proved to be cocaine, said an airport security officer who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media.

A National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) official, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said the haul was believed to be worth $250,000.

The evidence was sent to anti-drug officials at the Ministry of Interior, he said, and the suspect is being questioned.

That explains why Noi didn't make it. I'd never think that some Nigerians were already waiting to make 15 kg out of it.

BTW, an Indonesian man got nabbed here in Phuket: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/106155 5.2 kg coming straight from Colombia....facepalm.gif

Worth 15 million baht? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, they stretch that to 20 kg and it's still okay stuff.

......publishing the details has the same effect.....

...so protecting the identity of the drug smuggler is nonsense....

...let's wait for the story of how innocent she is...and cast the blame on someone else....

...simple possession is a crime......possession with intent to traffic.....and smuggling......x 100......

....I do not want to hear the excuse or explanation....

What is the penalty in Cambo for doing that?

A news snippet from 2011:

Cambodia’s prime minister Hun Sen last week approved a controversial new drug law that opens the door to rampant human rights violations. The legislation, which is expected to be signed into law within the next few weeks, will force drug users in the Asian nation into involuntary treatment for up to two years. Most of those who are detained will find themselves in facilities where detainees report that beatings, forced labor, and rape are commonplace.

No death penalty though in Cambo...
