MTV To Stop Airing On UBC Tonight

Look at the bright side....

Now there are 2 more channels available so men can dress up as ladies and smack each other in the face with pies.

Now THAT's Entertainment!!!

Or more space for those pathetic thai soap operas. When will they start removing those heads out of their <deleted>?

I think it's time to quit UBC. I pay the 1400/month and I never watch anything except CNN/BBC world for about 10 mins a day.

My kids watch the cartoons sometimes, but they prefer a VCD/DVD anyway.

I was speaking to True about getting IPTV, but it's pretty crap! Seems like piracy is the only reasonable choice!

If I could pay reasonable amounts of money for something of quality in thailand, then I would. Unfortunately, the business model here is build crap and sell it cheap OR build something mediocre and make it ludicrously expensive.

If your broadband is sufficient, check out http://www.tvunetworks.com/ and get it all free!

Dear Mr. ********,

Thank you for your e-mail below, Regarding to your complain about removing MTV and VH1 channels, we would like to clarify you that UBC-True has a policy to focus the content to knowledge-base programs to fulfill the subscribers’ demand and viewing trend by launching several new channels. For music channels, based on UBC survey, the popularity of Thai music has been constantly growing; therefore, UBC has introduced Majung and True Music and decided to stop broadcasting MTV and VH1 in order to reserve the channels for future programs

We appreciated that you have sent all valued suggestions to us to improve our service. We have no intention in taking advantage over UBC subscribers as we had launched new channels with the recent addition of True Music (30) game channel G-Square (22) as well as Explore 1 (61), Explore 2 (62), Explore 3 (63), movie channel Movie Hits (53) and another music channel Majung (34) without charging any additional monthly service fee. Sorry if this caused you any inconvenience.

Should you have any further queries, please contact our customer service at tel: 0-2271-7171 or email; [email protected]

G'Day

and got exactly same rely than you....

UBC is for thais only in the future...that could read beween the lines...

regarding customer survey they are refering to,, has ANY ONE participaded on that one??

Maybe we should ask UBC for a porn channel too. It would make as much sense as what they are offering us now.

Because they would spoil the bar scene :o

Lucky i read this topic as i was about to contact UBC about getting set up for a gold package but i think i will sit tight for a while and see what happens...its looking like the alternatives to UBC are worth taking a look at.

Don't do it.

Cable is only 300 baht a month and has the lot!!

I remember UBC footy coverage where they missed the first few games and didn't have English commentary. Massive queue to cancel subscriptions when i went down to cancel mine. Cable was installed next day had it all on in english.

STOP COMPLAINING AND HIT EM WHERE IT HURTS. Get it turned off and they leave you a free packege on hoping you will change your mind.

PS loved the posts comparing Thai mainstream tv to the Marks Brothers and pointing out the massive amount of cross dressing going on. Wheres the Ministry for Culture in the midst of all this? Or is cross dressing a traditional part of Thai culture?

I bet more Thai boys cross dress or become Katoey because of this, than girls "Cayote dance" because of Western Influence. All the Thias I have ever known, watch Thai movies (ghosts, Familys slapping and screaming at each other for 2 hours at a time) game shows and gossip shows.

Before you post, it is part of their culture
