Two former Capitol Tours bus drivers who have been in jail since early February were released on bail yesterday afternoon after fired bus drivers resumed their protest in front of the company’s office near Orussey Market yesterday morning. The group reiterated calls for the public to boycott the bus service.

“After having examined the cause and completed the application [for bail], we… see that the accused are gentle people with no criminal records and court proceedings will not be obstructed if [we] allow the accused bail. So, we agreed to release [them] on bail,” a statement from Investigative Judge Ros Piseth said.

Nan Vanna and Ros Siphay have been charged with committing aggravated intentional violence, obstructing public officials and obstructing public traffic in front of Capitol Tours’ company office on Street 111 in 7 Makara district on February 6. The charges followed a February 6 altercation between about 50 former drivers and about 50 members of the Cambodia for Confederation Development Association (CCDA).
