Just wanted let people know the (fake police) tessakit or BMA enforcement officer's are trying to scam people at BTS On Nut.

I pulled up on my Freshly registered and taxed Vespa today and parked at a motorcyle parking spot.

This su bag comes up to and demands to see my driver's license I said what for?

He bleeted out some shit about the bike is illegal...

I already knew this guy was trying to play me for a fool and pretend he was a cop..

I took out my camera and started to record..

As he was scribbling something on his ticket book and wrote $5000 bhat.

I promptly said to him in thai.

"I know your not police you Are a garbage officers and do you really think I will give you 5000 bhat? why don't you get a real job and stop trying to cheat people is it because you are too stupid and uneducated..?

He turned to me with his jaw dropped and handed back my license and told me to go away stupid farang.

I said to him as I left its ok I put you on YouTube...

2 thais standing near where smirking and laughing at the guy giving me the thumbs up...

So be aware the guys that look like cops with no gun and a bright green badge on the right arm are not police.

Ignore them and tell them to go away..

Good on ya mate, that's what I would have done, I would have done the same, maybe

Good work mate. One extracted some money from me in my early days in Bangkok, these days I think my approach would be similar to you.

Were you parking in Tesco ?

Tempting as it may be to go off on these guys, I seem to recall quite a few stories over the years that started with similar insults and ended with the foreigner in the hospital or the morgue. A machete wielding taxi driver comes to mind immediately. And a father and son who refused to get off a karaoke stage.

Seems it would be just as easy to calmly explain that you didn't fall off the turnip truck this morning. Less risky, too.

I Parked at Ideo Condo

Here is the guys Pics

Sorry I thought I was recording but unfortunately I was in Camera Mode so only got him when I pressed the button to start "recording" and again when I "Stopped"

Anyhow still got the desired result as he backed down and really did not want his grubby face on the net..

Interestingly I saw him On my way home about 5:30PM and he was clearly collecting money from the stalls all along the road level at the BTS On Nut station.

I watched him extort at least 5 Stalls as they were setting up for the rush hour commuters..

Its so annoying watching this it creates a nightmare trying to navigate the footpath already narrow with all the Illegal stalls.

Was not able to get him on camera Taking money in hand looked to be at least 2-300 bhat per stall as my battery had died.

But he caught me watching him as I stood above on the stairs looking down on him he quickly walked off muttering something..

Scumbag!!

Wow it really does look similar to the police uniform.

Yup but it's too small for him, seems that he eats very well from his business.

He should be reported, this gives Thailand a very bad name abroad.

Wow it really does look similar to the police uniform.

An organization that translates itself as "City Law Enforcement Department" goes in uniforms.

http://www.bangkok.go.th/citylaw

Comparable organizations exist in many western countries and in some cities even having part of police authorities like traffic/parking observation.

Patrol public places, dismissing troublemakers/alcoholics/tramps, checking food stalls, ...

Calling them "garbage officer" in my country would give me a veritable report by "real" police and a reasonable penalty for insult, resisting law enforcement.

Here "smart farangs" speaking fluent Thai get away with such behavior (instead of challenging him about the complaint on the motorbike).

The same guys that will park their pickup truck along the side of the road waiting to "fine" vendors for setting up their stall ahead of time..

I see them everyday parked beside the condo.. Seems like a pretty good job to me.. All you need to do is stand and make your presence noticed.

Wow I'm glad I don't live in "YOUR country" then..

Being fined/reported/penalized for call them out for what they are...

I would have welcomed the real police to come on down and assist me in the matter but alas I knew he would never call them and also they would never bother to come..

And in case you did not comprehend I did challenge him for what he was doing and he backed down because he knew he was trying to scam me and he knew what he was doing was illegal..

These scumbags are well known to be just another government uniformed parasite gang and are just as despised buy most Thai I know they do nothing to the betterment of the community..
