BANGKOK:-- Bangkok police conducted a sting operation and arrested four "ladies of the day" yesterday for selling sex through the Line messaging service.

They were part of a service of some 50 girls, many of them students, selling sex through the internet, reports Daily News.

Police who had become aware of the members only service contacted four women and arranged to meet them at a Chaeng Wattana hotel promising 8,000 baht a head. The girls showed up and were promptly arrested.

Named only as Miss Nat, Miss Amy, Miss Cherry and Miss Nor the girls are aged between 25 and 26. They were on the books of a group called 'Be Model' that introduced sexy students to customers for a 2,000 baht membership fee.

One of the girls said that she was a student at a famous university "in the suburbs" without being more specific. "I was invited to join by the owner of the group " she said. "There are about fifty girls working and most of them are students who need money like me."

A poster on the Thai news site announcing the arrests said sarcastically: "You weren't shy when you were showing your body on Line, why are you bowing your heads now?"

The girls were taken to the station to be processed on charges of selling sex.

How dare they..they should be ashamed of themselves!

Don't they know they can only do such things in public places such as Soi Cowboy, where ahem, other vested interests also make their share.....

Girls selling sex, in Bangkok? Say it isn't so, not here in the land of high moral values. cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

8000 baht a head? Wow, must have some very hi-so customers.

Think I'll pop into Soi Cowboy tonight to watch some neked girls with my 160 baht small beer. I can also check what's on the menu for take out. tongue.png

The officers were obviously appalled as none of the arresting cops have ever paid for it ever.

Probably not in such a case because college girls are too smart by demanding cash up front before any deeds.

Country girls they dealt with before were usually arrested after the deeds.

Students do this in the UK, nowt to be ashamed of, especially not here in the land of gash for cash.

This is just the tip of the iceberg and it is something to be ashamed of. How can it ever be acceptable that students are becoming prostitutes to pay for their education? And what about the people that are pimping them out under the guise as an agency? These girls are suppose to be attending university to earn degrees for their future careers and then working their way up to success, otherwise if they prefer to earn money by laying on their backs, then what`s the point of attending University? They may just as well graduate from school and go straight into the bars or become escorts.

Sorry, but this can never be acceptable.

8000 baht each ! Never heard of buy one get one free.

Thailand built it's ' unique ' reputation on cheap sex.

Seeing the prices all the Johnny come lately people are paying shows how nothing stays the same. Good looking Chinese hookers in Manchester only cost 50 quid a pop according to friends living there.

Now I know why very few students turned up for my afternoon class. I blamed it on the hot weather and upcoming Songkran holiday.

Edit: I had better add that I am joking. I don't want a defamation case.

I'd be interested to know under which article of Law they will be prosecuted.

"selling sex" isn't in itself an offense as far as I know, maybe using the internet to do so or to advertise is a crime under computer law or the fact that they were part of an organized network will be held against them.

Maybe advertising the service in LINE is considered lewd under the Law.

I'd be interested to know more about the exact charges.

Soliciting is illegal.
