As mentioned no sign of rebar. In any responsible investigation of this sort of death, the term criminal neligence would be

a term used, along with other terms and charges. I would hope that those responsible are exposed for what they have not

done properly has cost a human life, injured another and affected, who knows, how many dependents are involved.

Pathetic people who will save a baht with absolutely no concern for who nor how many might suffer need to be named instead

of hiding behind the threat of a law suit because their name is made public. This should also apply for the ones responsible

for buildimg and thos paid and tasked for inspecting for proper building materials and methods.

Correct me if im wrong but it appears to be a structural steel verandah made from rsj's with concrete or similar infills seated on the rsj's lower flange. The position of the verandah on the ground is reversed and upside down.

It would appear that as failure occurred, the outer edge has rotated down to the vertical, the connection has finally separated and the inner connecting edge is now furtherest away from the building, hence upside down. The rsj outer edges have been blocked in between upper and lower flanges, then rendered to give the appearance of a concrete slab.

As the steel connection to the building was inttended to be nothing more than a sheer connector, the outer edge still required the posts/masonry supports which appeared to be in the process of being removed. Once they were removed, there was no way the sheer connections could support the dead load rotational moment of what they turned into a cantilevered overhang.

Misunderstanding the original design and carrying out work based on visual interpretation seemes to have caused this failure.

I wonder why it's so important to mention that the workers who were killed were Burmese?

Does that make it more, or less, important that someone died, and place more importance on the design of the building?

They were mentioned as Burmese as in the scale of worth, they are considered worth less by many, than a Thai worker

I overhead a '' layabout Thai'',say about a Burmese who had stopped at mom and pop shop for a snack '' was not worth spit''

I had observed the Burmese for several weeks as he had 2 jobs and his wife was also working. I mentioned this to the Thai fellow

and pointed out he must be worth at least as much if not more than someone who, in their mid 40's spent most days drunk. He was

too drunk to realize that he had been insulted to some degree.
