NCPO spokesman: Former Pheu Thai MP rejects draft charter without seeing it

nc.jpg

BANGKOK, 15 April 2016 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) claimed everyone can express their political views as long as they are within the rule of law.

NCPO Spokesperson Colonel Winthai Suwaree dismissed former Pheu Thai MP Wattana Muangsuk’s Facebook post against the draft charter, saying the latter’s denouncement was nothing new.

The Spokesperson indicated that Mr. Wattana was showing his opposition even before having a chance to view the complete version of the draft.

Col. Winthai added the former Pheu Thai MP always disagrees with every NCPO’s decision. Regarding the referendum, the Spokesperson said participants are able to voice their opinions as long as they are conveyed within legal limits.

One wonders what planet some in Thailand are on , nobody with an ounce of democracy in their blood would give a toss if they seen the charter or not , when you have automatic appointments of top military brass, including the defence secretary, all just walking into positions , Senators being appointed, who needs to read the charter , my suggestion would be all members of the NCPO read the volumes that's been printed on the Westminster System and forget about a particular Chinese publication , for those who live and know China, Communism is on the wane , within a 25-50 years time frame, the people will eventually make sure of that...........................................................coffee1.gif

A similar analogy would be the common practice of selling motorcycle in Thailand but not having test bikes for consumers to try. So when the salesman says "Trust me, it's OK " what do you do???

"Col. Winthai added the former Pheu Thai MP always disagrees with every NCPO’s decision."

So it's OK to disagree if one agrees some of the time???

And to think there still are a few people out there that actually believe something good will come out of all this <deleted>. Amazing!

What complete version of the draft?

- CDC to revise transitional provisions once draft charter passes referendum

- Prologue to be written once draft charter passes referendum

- Only an abridged version will be released to the public

- No guarantee that the NCPO will alter the draft before endorsement

The NCPO Spokesman either has personal knowledge that the MP hasn't seen the draft or the Spokesman believes that the complete version is not available to the public. I doubt the former unless the MP made the admission.

In a referendum on the draft it's an "all or nothing" vote. Enough summaries of articles have been revealed to provide grounds for a "no" vote. One doesn't need to see the complete unabridged version of the draft to vote "no."

The level of naivety you're showing is quite frankly so over the top I hope for your sake you're trolling.

Oh, and the army is much more clever than the PTP and Dems. They took power and remover people's voting rights so no need to pay anything. Brilliant!!

It is doubtful reconciliation was ever a consideration, nor was true democracy. You may discuss something so long as you do it within legal bounds. Bounds forced upon you by a government that usurped power. Sadly, even the junta fan boys are running out of arguments for their dear leader.

Would strongly recommend that anyone who does not know about Thai Politics goes and watches Jungle Book, currently showing in the Cinemas. It is a little bit more light hearted, but I must admit there are very strong similarities to the characters in the film and to those in Thai Politics. The films does end, "happily ever after", but sadly there might be a way to go before we can say that about Thai politics!whistling.gif

But but Thaksin....

What's your excuse for all the military coups before the Shins?

It will be interesting to see how the shortcomings of the Shinewatras compares to these coups. Did the Shinewatras alleged corruption effect the economy and lives of the average Thai more so than the juntas ?

Whatever you're drinking, take it steady and add a wee bit more water! wink.png

Saw The Huntsman yesterday with the clan. Now there are characters in that film that are very reminiscent of Thai politicians - the full spectrum!

PS. Off topic but loved the way the hero and heroine spoke with Scottish accents whilst the two dwarf half brothers spoke with Welsh and South East English accents. Someone was having a laugh there. cheesy.gif

Doesn't matter. Although imposing Shin telecoms monopolies, lending government money to a military dictatorship at low interest so they could buy Shin company products, and changing the law to sell business to a foreign organization and avoid taxes might take some adding up.

Someone else doing wrong doesn't excuse or make right what the Shins allegedly did or have been convicted for.

Bearing in mind Shin patriarch Thaksin told Forbes that the family fortune grew 450% during his puppet PTP regime, and then there were the previous Shin governments, that's a lot of dosh that could have improved the lot of a lot of Thais!

Wonder how many people were affected by the Krungthai fraud? The number 1 defendant will remain a fugitive until the statute of limitations expires - or he gets whitewashed. Serious sentences on that one to co-defendants.

However, there are plenty of other families taking advantage of the situation with monopolies and look the other way authorities.

Of course you conveniently forget to mention that the increase of Thaksin's fortune is largely due to "Thaksin managed to recover close to US$1 billion of his US$2.3 billion in frozen assets"

An information you are perfectly aware of as it has been displayed in the Thai press (i.e. BP) and discussed in TVF before. ;)

"Rejecting the Charter without having seen it" would carry weight as a dismissive argument, if the NCPO had actually ensured that everyone had ample opportunity to study it....

It has been available since the 29th of March. Copies free for all Thai.

Still searching for a reasonable English translation though.

The Bangkok Post had, for these troubled times, a rather brave and reasoned opinion piece today.

The problem, as the BP appropriately points out is that the Junta is interpreting any comment they determine as anti charter is illegal, seditious and making anyone subject to retribution, or at the very least requiring a dose of 're-education'

Regardless of what you think about PT, Democrats, Thai politicians in general, when military junta's decide what are 'acceptable' opinions to express, it doesn't bode well for anyone

And back on topic, I didn't read Mein Kampf all the way through either but I still knew it wasn't the right way to run a government.

Absolutely!

We all know Pheu Thai MPs don't like to read, especially those following orders from their boss abroad.

Terribly sorry and all that, my dear chap, but the topic has k. Wattana who is a former MP and member of the Thaksin owned Pheu Thai party. A party which only acts when Thaksin tells them. Allegedly that is. We only have his word for that.

The army claims that Wattana rejects the charter without having seen it yet you claim it's been available to the public for some time now. So who is sprouting BS, you or the army?

And no, you're not allowed to invoke the name of Lord Voldemort na Dubai (borrowed from BP) in your reply.

I'm sure the reason why Wattana is on holiday now is because he wants to study the draft charter to prepare himself for the 'attitude adjustment' sessions planned. Good tactics, know your 'opponent' and so. If you can't buy and can't sue them out of existence then beat them with their own words, even our favorite criminal fugitive would agree.
