webfact
Conmen who defame NCPO for personal gains face crackdownBANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered a crackdown on some unscrupulous elements who made ill-gotten gains from vendors or traders by claiming themselves to be acting on behalf of the National Council for Peace and Order.Government spokesman Maj-Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said that the prime minister was fully aware with this misconduct by the con men which has caused hardships to many vendors and, at the same time, tarnished the NCPO’s reputation. He cited for an example a case in which the NCPO wanted to open a public park to allow vendors to do business during weekends but the alleged con men told the vendors that they would be evicted.Or in another case, the alleged con men demanded high rental fees from pavement vendors claiming that they were ordered to do so by the NCPO while, in fact, the NCPO knew nothing about it, said Maj-Gen Sansern. He insisted that the NCPO did not have any policy or intention to cause troubles of honest vendors and any group of people. The prime minister, he said, has wanted these unscrupulous elements to be arrested for causing hardships to honest citizens and for ruining the image of the NCPO. Moonmoon
how would we know who is genuine or not when the army does not even need a warrant to make arrest or enter another person's property. Everyone is scared the moment someone claims to be from NCPO or wearing an army uniform is at the doorstep threatening attitude adjustment if you don't cooperate... WhizBang
The NCPO really do not need to worry about others tarnishing their reputation. The NCPO have done a fine job of that all by themselves.
CantSpell
He insisted that the NCPO did not have any policy or intention to cause troubles of honest vendors and any group of people. Could he please repeat that sentence 1000 times, or as long as it takes for the idea to sink in???

Or the supposedly Army officers who went collecting, and then disappeared and were reported to be charged with LM? Just a few hits on the hit parade, where they just keep on comin'... yellowboat
Tarnish an organization founded by usurping power from an elected government ? Is there anything there to tarnish ? Now they are being exploited by nimble minded thieves cashing in on unchecked authority. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned ?
