      I'm not so sure - it looks more like an utter idiot attempting to make a quick lane change and had no idea the bike was next to them. Regardless - the driver was a total ayhole for driving off like that - should get a ban for dangerous driving and fleeing the scene of an accident. Another point: I think motorcycles and not permitted in the central lanes (3 lanes in either direction) on Vibhavadi Ransit Rd.

      How long have you lived in Thailand? It's the ones who know too much that do all the complaining. Everyone loves Thailand at first. Try being more than just a tourist here. I do everything on my own here. And I will happily have a dick measuring contest with you. What have you achieved here? I have enough Thai to get by in every situation I find myself in. I am probably intermediate level for speaking and listening. Can read and write some too. Aye, well I bet they weren't on a 1 year non-immigrant visa and still being referred to as an alien or a foreigner......after being in the country for decades. I think a lot of us just want to be able to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing without being in mortal danger. The Thais can read the signs but just choose to ignore them. Lol. At petrol stations they drive in the exit and out the entrance. I see it all the time. They ignore speed limits and go up the wrong side of the road, on the pavement even. And don't get me started on stop signs and pedestrian crossings. It's not the farang that make Thailand's roads some of the most dangerous in the world. 😄 🤣 😂

      Smell of trouble: Bangkok busts 7 Vietnamese for selling cannabis

      The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) arrested seven Vietnamese men at a house in Bangkok for illegally selling cannabis after residents complained about the unpleasant, intoxicating smell. Locals in the Bueng Kum district of Bangkok filed a complaint with the ONCB, stating that a group of Vietnamese nationals had disturbed the peaceful community by using cannabis and releasing smoke outside their rented house. Acting on the complaint, ONCB officers raided the house on Wednesday, October 9. Upon arrival, officers found seven Vietnamese men living together in the house. They searched the property and discovered 128 kilogrammes of ground cannabis packed in 17 big plastic bags. The suspects admitted to using the ganja themselves and also selling it to people in Bangkok. For disturbing other residents, each Vietnamese national was fined 5,000 baht. They also face further punishment of up to one year in prison, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both, for selling cannabis without a licence, according to Section 46 of the Protection and Promotion of Traditional Thai Medicine Knowledge Act. In a related report, the British Ambassador to Thailand, Mark Gooding OBE, met with the ONCB to discuss the illegal smuggling of cannabis from Thailand into the UK. The outcome of the discussion was not disclosed in the report. Although marijuana was removed from Thailand’s Category 5 drugs list, it remains illegal in many other places, particularly neighbouring countries. This raised concerns over the trafficking of cannabis from Thailand to other countries. During the tenure of former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, relevant departments considered reinstating cannabis as a controlled substance. However, the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party and current Deputy PM Anutin Charnvirakul, opposed this idea, as he was a key proponent of cannabis legalisation in Thailand. A group of ganja sellers and patients who use it for medicinal purposes also opposed the move. As of now, the issue has not been raised during the leadership of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. PHUKET: -- Lifeguards held a free surf survival and rescue training session for 40 children at Patong Beach yesterday (Apr 18), as Phuket marked its first drowning death of the year.

Maneewan Mutthong, 20, from Bangkok, was pronounced dead at Vachira Phuket Hospital yesterday morning, Witanya Chuayuan, Deputy Director of Phuket Life Guard Service told The Phuket News today.

“Hospital staff told me that Ms Manee had died when I called to follow up on her condition,” Ms Witanya said.

Ms Manee was in Phuket on holiday with about six or seven people, Ms Witanya said.

“The group ignored red flags and were caught in a rip current at Nai Harn Beach on Sunday (Apr 17). Ms Manee was the last one pulled from the water. She disappeared for about five minutes,” she added.

Lifeguards attempted to revive Ms Manee before she was rushed still unconscious to the new Accident and Emergency Department of the yet-to-be-built Chalong Hospital (see here), then transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town, where better treatment could be provided. (See story here)

“It is very sad for such a young person to lose her life. It shouldn’t have happened, but they played in the water where red warning flags were posted,” Ms Wianya said.

Ms Manee was the first drowning death in Phuket for 2016.

“Other provinces have had children drown already this year, but this was the first person in Phuket to die from drowning this year,” Ms Witanya said.

The surf survival and life-saving training session for children held in front of Loma Park in Patong yesterday was the third such workshop conducted by Phuket lifeguards this year.
