PM urges political groups not to break laws

BANGKOK, 20 April 2016 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has encouraged all political groups to stop violating the National Council for Peace and Order's (NCPO) rules.

Regarding the arrest of Pheu Thai leader Wattana Muangsuk, General Prayut said the politician was given many chances not to break NCPO rules. He claimed that legal action had to be taken to keep peace in the country.

The Prime Minister said every political group will be monitored from now on, adding that they would be prosecuted indiscriminately for breaking the rules.

According to the recent introduction of a referendum bill, anyone found to have campaigned both in favor and against the draft charter will receive a maximum jail term of 10 years.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan said Mr. Wattana is currently detained in a safe and comfortable place. The military will try to get him to understand the current situation.

The Deputy Premier has also assured that the NCPO will comply with the law while Mr. Wattana is attending an attitude adjustment program. NCPO Spokesperson Col Winthai Suwaree said the politician would also be treated with respect.

Yes, dont break my law. Just let me break the whole country, violate your rights, send the economy spiraling back 20 years and watch me promote my family into all the senior government positions.

Its all my normal way.

Wattana and breaking the law in the same sentence. No surprises there.

If he is not breaking the law he is trying to absolve others that broke it.

Yes, yes. All in the name of democracy!!

Hmm not quite like Prayuth, who staged a coup and abolished the 2007 constitution. On top of that he succeeded in absolving himself and his partners in crime.

The only mandate he has are a few guns...

You might have missed it? But all Thais, no matter the color of their shirt, had their human rights revoked in May 2014.

And it is getting worse by the day..........................

Yingluck a few years back: "They stole my democracy"

Prayut today: "Don't break my law"

.....

Same same but different ain't it? bah.gif

To both we could just answer: "what freaking democracy/law???"

Could be the one they dreamed about...

Is everybody in power totally delusional in this country?

Basically any political movements who dares to utter a word on the referendum will face a jail time of 10 years. You can like or dislike Watana but taking away the right to inform the public why the should or shouldn't vote for the referendum is not bringing reconciliation but stifle any opposition.

I could comment, that a certain whiny General took the country at gunpoint and is now crying bloody murder about other people, breaking "the law" he installed!

But let me quote the great American philosopher Danny Glover, who once said :"I am getting too old for this sh1t!"

Yeah....

That might be along the same lines as what I say about my industry (telecom):

"Ten more years, and the Indians and Chinese can have it all"

indiscriminately
ˌɪndɪˈskrɪmɪnətli/
adverb
  1. in a random manner; unsystematically.
"his armies slaughtered men, women, and children indiscriminately"
synonyms: randomly, at random, unsystematically, aimlessly, unmethodically, without method, haphazardly, blindly, uncritically, undiscriminatingly, non-selectively, injudiciously; More

The Prime Minister said every political group will be monitored from now on.

And you Prime Minister, will you and your cronies be monitored to?

A transparent government is what you promised isn't it?

Another question.

If everyone is happy with you and your government, why all the rules and threats of detention or prison for speaking against the government?

If your unhappy with the current government or their policies, where can you express your views without being arrested?

The "It's my way or the highway" style of governance is getting us nowhere.

IMO, Yes I'm not Thai, just interested in debating about the current political news events in Thailand with other English speaking members who also enjoy similar pursuits.

Come on, DJ - you aren't even giving it the "good old college-try" any more...

If you want to spin the Junta-speak here, you have to do more than just dribble on your keyboard...
