KhunBENQ
Most foreigners that come to spend their lives in Thailand do not come here to search for work. Watching account balance and take care that the curve does not go down too steep. Waiting for pension Although there are no exact numbers, be assured that the majority of westerners here does not work. Only exception might be Bangkok with a different ratio.
elviajero
Thailand isn't really interested in promoting visas for foreigners to live/work in Thailand. They want short term tourists, people that are financially independent or foreigners employed by a Thai company.
4evermaat
Should ask in jobs/business section. But visas... elviajero summed it up. Majority are retired or married to thai spouse...a few are working with work permits and the rest are tourist visa or visa exempt. Digital nomads usually opt for single/multiple entry tourist visas unless they qualify for a non-imm or elite visa.
