PHUKET: -- More than 1,500 arrests related to drug, illegal firearms, gambling and other criminal activities were made in Phuket and the surrounding provinces between April 1 and 17.

“In the raids, a total of 171 suspects were arrested for firearms offences. A total of 165 unregistered guns were seized along with 750 rounds of ammunition, as well as two bombs and two war weapons,” said Royal Thai Police Deputy Commissioner Srivara Ransibrah- manakul yesterday.

A total of 692 people were arrested in drug-related cases.

OK so far, but isn't it somewhat muddled to mix dangerous drugs, dangerous illegal firearms and funny gambling onto the same level?

And, were those criminals so kind and pay their 500 Baht tea money to the police, and promised to never ever dever do it again????

....Good God...look at that.....

...and that is just a fraction of a percent.....

1,500 arrests, that's a substantial number. I would like to read an article in the future about

the conviction rate and length of the sentences/fines.

This is the Thai Army forcing the BIB to do their job.Four years ago and this would not have happened

Army assistance seems to be working out good for the Phuket Police.

I don't see any hand guns in the line up.
