Village defense volunteer shot dead in Yala

YALA: -- A village defense volunteer was shot and killed while he was on duty guarding the co-operative agricultural office at Ban Juenuerae village in Tambon Budi of Muang district, Yala province.

Yala police identified the victim as Sakariya manung, 39.

He left home for guarding duty at the cooperatives office.

As he was walking in front of the office, the gunman came from behind and fired two shots at him.

He fell to the ground critically injured while the lone gunman then escaped under cover of darkness.

Police said they didn’t rule out personal conflict while also said it might be related to insurgency unrest.

Just today I was reading on this forum the 'ISOC reports situation better in Southern Region' and now I read this. Just who are the authorities kidding?

As the US gun apologists would say - never could have happened if he had been carrying an assault rifle. Oh wait....

"Police said they didn’t rule out personal conflict while also said it might be related to insurgency unrest."

Dare not use the "T" word, since there is none in Thailand....

I can distinctly recall a very powerful individual state quite ambiguously at the tail end of 2014, that the Southern Insurgency would be over in 2015..

It would appear the Insurgents themselves never received that memo.
