CityNews – A pickup carrying a group of musicians swerved off a mountain road in Mae Chaem and crashed 15 metres below, killing three and injuring five on the night of April 25.

After a police investigation, it was determined that the driver must have lost control when driving at night as the road was dark and had many turns.

After a police investigation, it was determined that the driver must have lost control when driving at night as the road was dark and had many turns.

So he did not have his headlights on ?

Notice how many accidents happen here on hilly roads,I believe it has to do with them putting the car, truck, bus in neutral, freewheeling down the hills,

thinking they are saving fuel, like when they never use their turn signals ,as it uses the battery and bulbs. so when they come to a bend, going too fast

the brakes fade, and accidents happen, when going down hills use the gears to slow you down, keep the brakes cool for emergency.

RIP musicians ,

No indication of whether the driver had been tested for drugs or alcohol. There is a tendency for the Police to almost avoid fully blaming anyone for their actions.

Where they say "He lost control due to heavy rain" I say "He was driving too fast for the conditions". Where they print an explanation of a thief saying "I had to do it to pay off a debt" or a pervert saying "I got aroused due to the alcohol" I would say, no don't print these lame excuses which seems like you are almost conceding that the individual had a reason.

I suggest that Thailand ban road and weather as these damn things are causing a lot of accidents and deaths

worge, you are talking "logic" now you should that the use of words Thais and Logic together is an oxymoron.

'lost control when driving at night ' I wonder if he said before setting off " As it is now getting dark I may well loose control of myself ".

I do not like talking like this but this is just a load of b......s. The thread contributors say it all. This is just crazy irresponsible driving causing death and injury to more people than, I believe, the vehicle was insured for, let alone the driver's capacity to be responsible for.

I would speculate that "the driver must have lost control when driving at night as the road was dark and had many turns." concludes the matter with minimal paperwork allowing the BiB to get back to writing tickets and issuing fines etc

if only they would get back to writing tickets and issuing fines, then most of these accidents would not happen, i know first hand, that many thai drivers do not read the signs on the side of the roads, i have asked them at times, if they can tell me what the sharp curve sign said, thay did not see it, and that goes for many different signs on the roads.

The writer has been watching too many Game of Thrones episodes......"for the night is dark and has many terrors."
