BANGKOK, 2 May 2016 (NNT) – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) and the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) are scheduled to meet the public on May 18th-19th.

CDC spokesperson Norachit Sinhaseni said today that members of the drafting team and lawmakers will together travel to various locations to make known the contents of the constitution and the upcoming public referendum to take place on August 7th. He said the reason the two bodies are traveling together is because it helps save on the budget.

He said two days should be enough for the team to explain the draft charter to the public as many agencies including the Interior Ministry and local offices are helping out as well.

The main concern according to the spokesperson is that there remain a large number of people including scholars who have an incorrect understanding of the draft, adding that those who don’t understand or misinterpret the draft should come forward and ask the drafting team directly for an explanation.

But what if they do clearly understand the draft and just do not agree before and after the explanation? Seems expressing public disagreement with the draft is not welcomed by the govt based on very recent laws passed.

Seriously, the whole 200-member NLA will travel with the CDC members? That doesn't seem very cost-effective.

And where is the EC who was paired with the CDC by the Junta to educate the public on the draft? Perhaps EC's idea of presenting Pro's and Con's to different articles may have banned them from any further public engagement.

This is entirely doable.

With 2 days, and the work divided among 20 teams, each team can meet with 1 million voters per day. If they put in 24 hours each day, and they book meeting rooms that hold at least 800 people, they will have a full 60 seconds with each group. That is more than enough time.

No bathroom breaks, I'm sorry to say.
