If he was so worried he was commiting commiting a sin he should have taken the dog to a temple and dumped it there. Clearly the laws for keeping your pets under control are non existent and something should be done to take care of this as well as enforcing these animal cruelty laws. But, it seems that dog owners are hard to find and ownership is rarely found when the dog attacks someone or destroy someone else's property. Accountability is almost always non existent. In this dogs case, the man was lucky the owner came forward to give him money yet, failed to restrain the dog as promised. The sad thing is that this man will probably receive a harsher sentence than someone who kills another by driving dangerously and irresponsibly.

I don't think that's sad. Reckless drivers are just stupid. Animal torturers are mean.

Cruelty is our species darkest attribute. What we do to animals is only a glimmer of what we do to each other.

You're kidding right ?

What we do to animals is FAR WORSE of what we do to each other.

Nope. I've worked with abused and neglected children for 14 years, humans are the worst. It's also a fact we are the deadliest species.

Thought I was about to read about the next big food thing in Asia (after shark fin soup) - dog paw soup.

Enhances one's ability to grope . . . The gropee could yell "Get ya filthy paws offa me!"

It makes me sick to my stomach that I have to share air with a person that could do this .....without a doubt I could put a bullet in his head.

So you would commit murder for a dog injury? The man had every right to protect his property from the dog, he just went about it the wrong way, advocating murder is also the wrong way to go and would make you 100x worse than the man who did this to the dog.

Foolish man, he should have just left poison out and done the job properly

Another fine upstanding human. No animal deserves to be treated inhumanely. Sounds like you might need a dose yourself.

True, so what about the millions of them every year cruelly slaughtered for people to stuff in their mouths? there is no actual nutritional need to do this. The hypocrisy surrounding animal welfare is depressing

There are two sides to this story. Very, very few pet owners here are willing to engage in disciplining their dogs. So most just do as they please. Bark all night, chew up peoples possessions, roam the streets, chase bicyclists, chase motorcyclists, bite people at random, etc. They do as they want, as they are never shown any limit to their behavior. So, the owner of the pet has to take some responsibility.

Granted, no cruelty of this manner is justified over a pair of ratty boots, and what was probably a 200 baht helmet. But, he cannot be blamed entirely.

Yes, "he" the so called "human" can be blamed entirely.

No, the dog cannot be blamed ... he's a dog ... woof woof. Dogs do that, and you don't cut off their paws when they do. In a civilised society you train them, or you leave them alone and accept their behaviour, or you call a professional qualified dog pound.

No blame can be put on the dog but the dog's owner is a different matter. The dog should not have been allowed to get into others property.

What happened to the dog however is very cruel and I hope its owner now realizes their mistake.

Cant quite believe that posters would dilute the atrocious actions of this sick **** with their insipid little comments about dog control.

Yes, dogs are poorly controlled here, and yes it is your right to dislike dogs, but to bring it up as some sort of excuse for this behavior betrays your inhumanity,

Oh my God, I was called inhuman. I am so sad. I must find some time for a good cry. I have owned many dogs over the years. All were well behaved. All were properly trained. It took some work. But, the dogs behaved themselves, and would never get into other peoples stuff. Period. Dogs can be trained. Most Thais do not believe in training either dogs or children. I am not excusing his behavior. I am just stating a fact. If that dog had been well trained, this would not have happened.

sift thru "live leak" to see what we do to each other

Do we string people up and then beat them before stripping off their skin and cooking them alive? Because that's what people do to dogs in China. The adrenaline from the violent death is supposed to make the meat more tasty.

Total BS ! Adrenalin fouls the meat, that is why Australian beef are slaughtered by a stun gun.

It is very strange to think people are capable of doing something so macabre and wantonly cruel. Stems from sick desires/traits which i cannot fathom.

oh go on force yourself

I am following this topic.

Hope I don't read from any of my Compatriots that the dog deserved it!

How anybody on this page can try and justify such actions under any circumstances leave me lost for words! It is a fact that those who abuse animals often go on to abuse people as well. How people control or don't control their pets is another topic entirely. The fact is this guy will get off with a fine and short suspended sentence despite publicly stating he will kill the dog out of revenge for being reported to the police. The good news is that Soi Dog Foundation have apparently moved the dog to a specialist clinic, and if survives is apparently suitable for prosthetics which they will cover costs of.

There is probably some house close by where they are keeping fighting cocks, strap spikes on them and let them slice each other up until one dies, but that's ok cos it's still legal here. Why is nobody campaigning to get widespread and regular animal cruelty like this banned in Thailand?

Absolutely horrific....but I wonder how much the owner cared also, not keeping her dog on a chain as promised, absolutely no excuse, but I don't think it's the responsibility of a person to hang up his cloths and shoes in their own home (as suggested here by one poster) in order to stop them being chewed up by a neighbour's dog. If it was happening to one of us would we be so tolerant as people on here are making out he should have been.

You are right, absolutely despicable and unforgivable cruelty. But it only exists because of gambling which ISN'T legal.

How does any of this equate with Buddhism? So much hypocrisy - no shame, no guilt or humility in sight.

Sometimes I am ashamed of my fellow man!
