Homestay In Southern Thailand

Featured Replies

I've been trying to book a 3 night homestay in Southern Thailand, but am having some trouble. I have only found two places I can do it through and one has quoted me around $550 (because I am travelling on my own), whilst the other (costing around $180) is yet to get back to me (its been 3 weeks!)

I was wondering whether anyone knew of somewhere, preferably around the Andaman, where I can stay with a Thai family for a few nights?

I would like to go around with them for a couple of days (fishing, cooking, etc), but am happy to spend a couple of days on my own snorkelling aound the beaches.

PLease let me know if you've heard of anything like that, or even if you know of a village where they would be happy to have me come to stay for a few nights. I really want to experience the "true" Thai lifestyle, not just the beaches around Koh Samui!

Thanks,

Sally

there are homestays all around Thailand - even in Bangkok.

a few weeks ago there was a separate thread titled 'homestays in thailand' with contacts to those places or just search 'homestay', 'homestays', 'home stay' and 'home stays' on thaivisa or google.

$10/night should be a reasonable charge for an accommodation and basic food + additional payment for whatever excursions/activities you decide to take (traditional thai massage, cooking, dancing introductory courses) - that's at least what I charge in Bangkok. You might find even something cheaper in provinces and in the villages.

Hi, thanks for your replies.

I was specifically after a southern thailand homestay, not ones in Bangkok, Chiang Mai or Isan.

I have had a look through the pas threads and still cannot find any.

If anyone knows of a specific website that does homestays in Southern Thailand it would be much appreciated. THe ones I have checked out are Homestay Paradise and Go Differently.

Thanks

great prices in this link - homestay accommodation 100 baht per day, food 150 baht/day, translator/guide 300 baht per day

i have THE place for you. Ko Klang, just off of krabi town. can you PM me and i will give you some phone numbers. This is one of THE best homestays i have ever stayed at in Thailand, and belive me, ive stayed in a LOT.
