Departing Suvarnabhumi on past due 90 day report?

Featured Replies

A friend's 90 day report was due last Feb but he completely forgot to renew. He will depart Thailand within a week and is trying to decide the best (cheapest) approach to handle the past due 90 day report. A few years ago he was able to depart BKK airport without hassle even though his 90 day report was past due at the time -- but only by a few weeks. If things have changed, that is if he will most likely be fined at the airport, then he thinks it will be better to go to the Immigration Office and pay the fine as it can likely be reduced there. BTW, he is near Khon Kaen. He doesn't think Suvarnabhumi Immigration allows any reductions in fines.

So does anyone have recent experience on:

  1. 90 day enforcement at Suvarnabhumi
  2. Getting a reduced fine at an Immigration Office.

Thanks in advance.

  1. He should have no problem leaving from BKK with no fine as they do not have access to 90 day report history.
  2. If he goes to immigration to report late he should be fined the standard 2,000 baht.

It is possible, should he return and make future 90 day reports, that the missed report will be noticed and they could fine him then.

Immigration at airports and border crossings have no interest in 90 day reports. It is not part of their assigned duties.

Thanks guys. Also very good point elviajero regarding possible fines on previous past dues.

Is there a grace period (like five days) or s so after your due date before you get fined? I'm due to report on 22 May ( which is a Sunday) but I want to to be away in(not abroad) until about the end of that week..

You can report within 7 days late of the due date, so the last day you can report is Friday 27th.

It is possible to make the report in advance of the due date.

Yes it is

14 days in advance 7 days after

before i never did 90 day reports and never had any trouble leaving without the report

as stated, not their job and they dont care

I just flew out past 90 days were expired and Custom did not bother.

Question is, I am now back in Bangkok and I am assuming fresh 90 days start on my return date.

Wonder now if the Officer will check at my next 90 days report and find out that I have missed such report the previous time?

Your next 90 day report will be due 90 days from the date you entered the country including that date in the count.

When you go to do the report the officer will look at your entry stamp to determine if you are on time or late for reporting. It is possible the officer will notice you departed without doing a report and charge you a 2000 baht fine.
