In the case you mention, I still think the 5 minute recuperation period is essential, but the player committing the foul goes off too, to compensate.

The problem with that is you would get your bit part players going in and sacrificing himself for the team by trying to get fouled off RVP for instance. Therefore, RVP is off the park for 5 mins as well.

My feeling on the feigning injury bit is this. If a player requires the trainer to come on to the field, then he is obviously injured, no? Therefore, he should be made to stay off the pitch for 5 minutes in order to be fully recovered before returning, for his own sake.

I'd like to adopt the rugby rules with regards this. I'd change the period of each half from 45 mins to 40 mins, but instead of having time added on, they would simply stop the clock each time the game was delayed more then say 15 or 20 seconds. No need to stop the clock for throw ins and such, but when say the goal keeper is faffing about taking a goal kick, or any time any sort of time wasting is going on, that lasts more than 15 or 20 seconds, the clock automatically stops. Would make it a lot fairer, would stop time wasting and would remove all the nonsense of calculating time added on.

While we are the subject of rugby, why not sin bins, say 15 mins, how many times do we hear the commentator say " he took one (yellow card) for the team when committing a foul" perhaps this would happen less often if there was sin bins !!!

Good point - any ideas or are you OK with all the nonsense?

This is a good idea. Would save games being ruined by a fifth minute sending off.

How about this one ups ! the player supposedly feigning injury gets a full medical n the pitch, a specialist is bought on, a mobile MRI machine is bought on, Xrays etc and if it is determined he is feigning injury then a red card!!!!

I'm certainly not happy with all the nonsence but I don't know what can be done about it. At this level and with the money involved they will all look for some way in which they can gain an advantage.

IMO the only way football could clean it's act up, is with the introduction of technology and this probably ain't the right thread to start that one off.

Strongly disagree Stevie.

I hate the diving and the cheating.

I particularly hate when a player is 'touched' and he rolls around as though he has been battered. Lies prone on the floor, yet 20 seconds later when his team has the ball, is running at full tilt!! Its nonsense.

Suarez has admitted diving. If he was a City player, it would embarass me as a City fan.

I believe most football fans, certainly the ones I know, agree with me.

i don't 'hate' that, that's just rubbish. the player in question makes a dick of himself and gets his card marked with it. i don't see it as a particularly big issue. certainly nothing worth really getting your knickers in a twist over.

that said i did also prefer the game when if a player did do the feigning and faking thing as you say, the next challenge he was on the receiving end of he could expect to get a proper clobbering. perhaps one of the reasons that players used to dive and feign less was that they knew if they did they could expect the next tackle to put their finishing the match, finishing their career or even having children in jeopardy.

It's not as if Suarez told us anything we didn't already know <deleted>.

Clearly insufficient? The FA didn't think a yellow card was insufficient when Oxford Uniteds Matt Ritchie shoved a ball boy in the chest and hit the ball out of his hands in March last year.

That brat at Swansea should have tried it with Billy Bremner. Funny read....l

The reason why people do hate it, and the reason why people do get their knickers in a twist about it, is because of the countless times when said dick doesn't get his card marked with it, but rather cons the ref and wins a decision that never should have been won and that completely turns the game on its head. And i bet when it happens against your team, all this philosophical stuff you have been coming out with about it all just being a part of the game, about not seeing it as a particularly big issue, all goes out the window and you jump up and down and shout at the cheating knob on the TV who has cost you the game, just like the rest of us do.

Anyone see the game? I woke up with a start at 5:30 thinking Chelsea have drew 1-1 by conceding in the last minute. Wasn't far off.

Rafa seems to be a bit of a plum to me, his subs are woeful and quite pointless. When we are losing he brings on a defender and when we are holding on to a lead he brings on a striker. What is going on in this mans head? Will he be sacked before I hit the send button?

Why didn't you watch the game?

I have to say the days of Mourinho's Chelsea scoring, shut up shop, three points, are well over.

You've seen the negativity on the Arse thread but imho whilst they are a relatively poor Arsenal side i reckon that third and fourth are very much up for grabs. I can also see Liverpool entering the fray if they are lucky with injuriefitness

I didn't watch the game because I had to be at work at 8. I know some of you live and breathe football, but I'm not getting up at 3 for 2 hours and then be like a zombie at work...............plus I need all the beauty sleep I can get. biggrin.png

We have a very flaky outfit at the moment. If anybody would have told me that we were going to draw the game 80 mins. into the action,I would have told them to keep taking the tablets. We were totally in control and the game was drifting towards a comfortable conclusion. Once their first goal went in,panic stations ensued. Personally, I was surprised to see Torres starting as I thought it would have made more sense to play Ba against Reading and Torres at Newcastle.

As i said when Drogba made the move to China, it's all very well getting paid all those millions, but how will his ego cope with no longer being on the world stage. By the looks of it, not very well. Get the dosh and then piss off. Stand up guy.

Congratulations on one of the most idiotic posts in history!

Yet another bad day at the office, and while im not at all happy with Benetiz,i can,t blame him for the 3 Reading players being totally unmarked for there equaliser. How poor was that?

A lot of what i have seen lately has left me speechless (hence that fact i haven,t been posting on here)

What i do know is that anything that has gone wrong is not Rafa,s fault, because he said so, it,s the players not playing to plan, which shouldn,t be difficult cos he only has one plan.

I know there is still a lot to play for,two Cups plus a Champions league spot, but i can,t wait for this season to be over and Rafa gone!!!
