PATTAYA: -- A Pattaya man rented his car to another Thai man and the man disappeared without a trace.

25 year old news reporter, Mr. Chalerm Wongwai informed Pattaya Police that he had posted his car rental business on Facebook and a Thai customer rent a car from him. When he did not hear from the customer about returning the car, it raised his suspicion so he traced the GPS on the vehicle and saw that his car was near the Cambodian Border.

Mr. Chalerm managed to liaise with the Commander of Marine Corps Klongyai, in Chantaburi, Junior Lt. Pichit Udomporn to locate his car and return it back to him.

Mr. Chalerm explained that on the 7th of May, a Thai man with ID, 29 year old Mr. Sittichote Sankaboth from Uthaithani contacted him via Facebook to rent a car for two days for 2,200 baht and 2,000 baht deposit.

so he switched off the engine via satellite.

Learn something new every day. This is a good option to have if it's true.

I would regard that kind of device is essential when dealing with total strangers. I wonder how much it costs?

At least the 2000 baht deposit (which won’t be returned to the renter ) will partly offset the cost of that device

To stop the Engine via GPS Sattelite is usual, if the Car have a Navi or a Single GPS Transponder installed. Stop the Car thru Smartphone or Computer.

at least that explains the cause of the many weird accidents in Thailand. While driving the car was turned off.

If I ever start a car rental business the first thing that will be installed is a gps.
