BANGKOK, 19 May 2016 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has asked that politicians given the opportunity to speak on the draft constitution give candid views but make sure not to confuse the public.

In a message relayed from Russia, where the premier is currently on an official visit, Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha affirmed that the government has allowed for all political groups and politicians to voice their opinions on the draft charter. He stated all who speak on the document will be allowed to give their genuine impressions as well as their views on related matters such as political conflicts and cases, saying that the opportunity is so that all stances can be considered.

Nonetheless, the leader asked that those speaking be considerate of the needs of the nation’s majority and not seek to confuse the public. He said that all speaking should be candid so as to allow the public to make their own decisions.

I doubt he's had a change of heart...just saying things to look good on the "international" stage

Why the sudden change of heart? What about all the laws to imprison those who spoke against, have they been rescinded?

Yes and No.

Yes for public consumption to make it look good.

No when it comes to application.

NO! All the referendum laws are still firmly in place and still apply to everyone.

Everyone except the "good" people ?

His statement (?) was made in Russia, for international consumption, I am sure. What has he said directed at the Thai people? More like 'shut up and and vote yes'.

In a perverse way, I'm actually starting to hope this clueless clown continues to stumble around for a few more years. (Which may be the case)

Just so he and his autocratic, archaic, dunderhead cronies will continue to implode and have to finally crawl away in inevitable shame and humiliation.

Ultimately, disappearing back to the forgetable past.

Where these dinosaurs belong.

Plus, the joy of watching him crack, (more, that is). He's already retreated to bunker mentality....

After some due consideration , there is not much option but to give it the big flick , where you have four automatic appointments, the three defence chiefs and the secretary of defence, a whole swag of unelected Senators and just who is electing the Prime Minister , until the people have the first and final choice, after all the Parliament is the house of the people , the Charter is nothing but a sham and a gateway for the Junta to continue a semi quasi rule into the future...................coffee1.gif .

I cannot imagine why restrictions on the discussion would be considered. It is as if they suspect that a millions of NED* and similar money might be used to push for a consitution which would allow Transnational Corporations to buy up the entire natural-wealth of Thailand, and make the citizens homeless within it, as has been done in so many of their other colonies "nations".

Kudos to Thailand for outmaneuvering the colonizers, both traditional and modern, for all this time - and maintaining Thai sovereignty.

* NED = "National Endowment for Democracy" - it's an Orwellian-named organization used to funnel money to paid-propagandists in media, 'activist' groups, and 'rent-a-mobs', which are used to bring about "regime change" in nations which stubbonly retain their land, natural resources, and sovereignty for use in the interests of their own citizens. The NED-funded tentacles will back either "right" or "left" groups - even both at the same time (to destabilize), as their goal has little to do with ideology, and everything to do with "control."

They also pay armies of Internet bloggers to spend their days posting their talking-points - easy to spot, if you know their meme-game.

They first said there would not be a single Internet gateway. Then with lots of fuss and back and forth it came to be. This seems the same. Also, they will probably want to flush out those who appose them, which seems to be both sides now.

Prayut may be trying to deflect recent comments by the EU and UN concerning loss of human rights in Thailand and especially in connection with the upcoming constitution referendum.

Prayut by action is not having a change of heart, only by words. He will maintain his special right to enforce laws where, where and how he sees fit.

I wonder if he's trying to bait the Pheu Thai Party leadership into further open criticism of the draft so he can legally ban them from the next election.

It's similar to a paranoid split personality disorder what is perceived subjectively as confusing the public and just an opinion or belief.

How can anyone state a view without it being tagged by this guy?

"Don't look at them in the eyes Freddy ..No eye contact""

"Don't say the dog bites for Christ sake !! "

All the while he claims he is cool with opinions .

Like hell he is.

You can't even say it here.

What hopes do Thais have?

How can you say the charter cooks the system to rig a military elitist presence and is not a fair and free democratic process..then out line why without being locked up?

Give me a break Please!!!!!

The concerns of silencing people is one thing.

The charter another

But denial of the process of doing so is like saying those chimneys with smoke pouring out has absolutely nothing to do with CO2 emission it's solar
