Arrest warrant out for redshirt leader Kwanchai Praipana

The junta's promised reconciliation process gets more one-sided day by day. They should all be tested for color-blindness.

What does this case from 2008 have to do with the junta and reconciliation? Kwanchai is nasty violent red shirt.

Not like the peaceful people who took the country by force of arms. Of course they can never be put on trial because they granted themselves an amnesty.

You're right. THEY did it peacefully.

Innocent or guilty his expectation of a fair trial and sentence must be pretty slim. If I were in his shoes I would hear the verdict on skype from a place of safety.

Justice in Thailand certainly does not wear a blindfold

Do you honestly believe that if the redshirts and their political organization come to power again (God forbid) trials would become fairer?

Do you honestly believe that during the different shin governments trials were fairer?

Back to my question; what does a case from 2008 have yo do with the junta? Was Kwanchai tried in a military court the last 8 years? No! This is an old case with multiple hearings and appeals in a civil court.

Kwanchai is "red" his case went in shortest time up to the supreme court,if he would be yellow it would take another 5 years for a sentence or nothing would happen.Reconcilation of the coupmakers is a bit one sided, don't you think so
Kwanchai took his case to the supreme court in 2012 (after the appeals court upheld his sentence). So it took 4 years!!

Trials will become fairer when the people want that enough to elect a government who are committed to that goal. If they are not allowed to elect their own government then the self appointed rulers must be made to take the blame for all the shortcomings of their administration as they cannot be voted out.

Your hypothesis about a future red-shirt government is irrelevant and in no way justifies the current partisan application of the laws.

It does however reflect the general opinion that the entire law and order system of this country is corrupt and up for sale to the highest bidder. That situation suits despotic governments of any hue.

This is the self same Kwanchai photographed prancing around Bkk in an Udon Thani Provincial Police uniform resulting in the then national police chief announcing if not entitled to wear the uniform he would face prosecution.

He wasn't entitled and wasn't prosecuted either.

Why do you claim one sidedness.

If the law says someone should appear at the court and they don't, then they have broken the law and an arrest warrant is issued.

His lawyer was there, his wife was there but didn't seem to know where he was or even if he would turn up, so why wasn't he there?

Why don't they 'take them down' (from the dock into a cell, into a waiting police wagon, onto a jail) after pronouncing sentence in Thailand as they do in normal countries? Is it a chance to give them time to dig out their hifalutin contacts, pay their bribes, make lame excuses or jump ship?

The way it is done in the West is dead easy and you always get your man in a cell!

Another Farang who does not understand Thainess or the reasons for it. You mentioned all most of the people who would be missing out on the gravy train if they did it like in the west. What is wrong with you? You are trying to do recommend Western ways that deprive Thai people of their culturally accepted normal income (I will not say work.)

Oh dear, another 'Farang' banging on about 'Farangs' in the ludicrous hope someone might somehow mistake them for a Thai.......sad.png

Should do a typical red shirt excuse. Hide like a coward until the verdict states they won't go to jail...

Hey Jatuporn? The leader of all that is right and correct in Thailand!!!

PS - Yes yes the courts are biased!!

A daffodil type of biased system?
