Man finally admits murder and rape of corpse after disappearance of Udon woman

UDON THANI: -- A man has finally admitted the murder and rape of a respected Udon woman well known in the Nam Soam area for driving a three wheeler.

The Hua Hin man initially blamed a friend for the rape of the corpse to try to lessen the seriousness of the charges against him'

The lady known as Sompong (no surname given) was 52 and disappeared on May 19th while driving her three wheeler. She was a well known and respected volunteer figure in the community who often helped others with problems they were facing with local government reported Daily News.

She was found May 22nd dead in a rubber plantation. Police said she had been raped.

Nattawut Phromsawat, 27, a native of Hua Hin was soon arrested and told police that he and a Petchburi based friend called Banjong (no surname given) had taken a ride with the woman driver during which Nattawut said he strangled Sompong for her gold necklace and 1,200 baht in cash. He said Banjong raped the corpse then the two split the proceeds of the crime and went their separate ways.

Wednesday Hua Hin police contacted their colleagues in the north east to say that Banjong denied being in Udon on the day of the incident and had many witnesses to prove it.

Nattawut, faced with this new evidence then admitted the crime was down to him alone. He said he had gone to Nam Soam and smoked ganja and was high. He had hired Sompong to take him to Ban Thep Prathan for 180 baht but when they had arrived he realized that he had no money. He asked to be taken further for an extra 120 baht and when they reached a secluded spot he strangled the victim, took the necklace and money and threw her in the rubber plantation.

He told police that he then went to have some beer before returning to rape the corpse. He decided to blame Banjong to try to limit the consequences of his crime.

I think its safe to say that he is not a human as we would define it.

I would also go as far as saying that someone like that, would have done this type of thing before and gets a rush out of doing it, the only difference now is that he got caught.

People like this can never be rehabilitated and should just be put out of their misery, to stop them doing it again.

The murderer was from Hua Hin,- the same area as those guys who kicked the unconscious Welsh couple and son at Songkran.

The victim was from Udon Thani.
