Economic Confident Index remains good overall

BANGKOK, 31 May 2016 (NNT) - The Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand has revealed that only business operators in the North, Central Plains and South of Thailand remain confident in the economy.

Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand Somkiat Anurat said the Economic Confident lndex (ECI) for entrepreneurs polled in the North, Central Plains and South were found to be above 50 out of 100.

Mr. Somkiat attributed the higher indices to continuous tourism growth in these regions. The ECI was recorded lower than 50 in the East and Northeast, where business owners expressed concern that the global economy was not recovering.

Mr. Somkiat said the ECI for the country as a whole is above 86, which he took as indication that the majority of Thai business owners believe the economy will improve in the second half of the year.

The Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand have revised the economic growth forecast from 3.5% to 3%, due to the global economic slowdown. Thai exports continue to contract, while domestic consumption has begun to decline.

Another embedded suggestion.

"which he took as indication that the majority of Thai business owners believe the economy will improve in the second half of the year."

No way you can read that from the number 86, even though it may be true. Wishful thinking is alive and well.

Thainess.

It fun reading. Just this month year on year the export dropped again 7.6% and import dropped 13,4% , and the private investment down from last year from19% to 1,6%.( last years private investment was 19% but only 1,6% the first 3month)

But every thing is good ;)

- Grassroots Economic Sentiment Index was most recently found to be 44.9, under the 50 point mark

- Rubber price assistance and production cost reduction efforts were not effective
