Clinton scores prized endorsement from Gov. Jerry Brown

Mediterranean Sea disasters leave more than 1,000 dead

GENEVA (AP) — The treacherous Mediterranean Sea crossing from Libya to Italy claimed the lives of at least 1,083 migrants over the past week — mostly because barely seaworthy smuggling boats foundered and sank despite calm seas and sunny skies, a migration agency said Tuesday, citing new accounts from survivors.

Big Trump checks to vets groups sent on day of media report

NEW YORK (AP) — More than a dozen big checks flowed out of New York last week, bound for veterans' charities from Donald Trump. On Tuesday, he announced he had made good on his promise of last January to give the groups millions of dollars from a highly publicized fundraiser.

Dhammakaya now at maximum security alert

BANGKOK: -- Wat Dhammakaya now seems to become a military barrack rather than a Buddhist temple after the controversial abbot's followers erected barbed wire fence on the temple walls, floated surveillance balloon, increased new closed circuit cameras, set up more road barricades, and deployed more security personnel on ground as they feared that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) may storm in to arrest their abbot, Phra Dhammachayo.

Yingluck Shinawatra steps back into Thailand's political arena

Kindergartener Killed as Bangkok Drenched in Rain

BANGKOK — A 5-year-old girl died in Bangkok this morning after the motorcycle she was on lost control in the rain, one of two road fatalities reported so far Wednesday related to the rainstorm that hit much of the capital city.

Tiger Temple closure raises job concern for staff and employees

Bang Yai City raid nets 36 illegal migrant workers

NONTHABURI: -- A combined force of 200 police, soldiers and district officials encircled Bang Yai City, a major shopping and commercial complex in Bang Yai district of Nonthaburi province this morning and rounded up over 200 migrant workers for checks of their work permits.
