I'm looking for someone to do some healthy meal prep on Sundays and Wednesdays, recipes supplied by me (in English or Thai). Does anyone else employ a cook part time? What is a fair rate to pay?

Try out cook first tell person you will give x amount of Bht for cooking one meal if good sit and talk to cook and between you decide on pay. If no good move onto next.

A fair rate as you call it is depending on how much you like there cooking and as it's only two days maybe not even full days to keep cook coming back youwill have to look after cook

I pay mine 12,000 baht per month.

She does about 2 hours, 4 days a week, including cooking.

I am happy with Thai food, so i presume she spends about 1,000 baht a week on food and so she has roughly 8,000 baht after.

Obviously due to the set up she tries and save as much as possible on the food so she has more left over! Does not bother me to much as long as I have something semi eatable when i get home from work.

500 baht day? Is there physicalties involved?

No,thank goodness.

She is very trustworthy and i can always rely on her to take care of things when i am away or head in to take care of issues, meet contractors when necessary.

I am happy to pay perhaps slightly over the odds for having someone i can trust available.

12,000B is a full-time monthly wage for people like supermarket assistants and also the office staff in my building.

To pay that much for someone working barely one quarter of a month seems very high to me.

It has been my experience when a person is overpaid here. They think your stupid and the situation goes downhill from there. You might think your doing a good thing. Well it often doent end well.

Be prepared to go thru MANY staff before you find someone even half decent and expect all sorts of BS form the oens you dump............it took me 2 years and about 20 different people to find one who was reasonable.

Once you have them its worth it but its so tedious trawling thru the dross

You have to be joking? 12K a month for 8 hours a week! You must be off your head. There must be lots of Sushi on the menu and some happy endings to those meals. Crazy!

cool.png 2000 Baht week net doesn't seem too much to me. I assume there is travel expense and time involved to do the shopping required. Hard to imagine shopping ,travel and then cooking, cleaning etc. in 2 hours.

All depends on where the person will do shopping. If you want really healthy it should be "organic" or whatever that sticker may mean here in thailand but for sure it means a 400% price increase compared tp a local market
