Small charter airline expands fledgling fleet to set up Chiang Mai base for regional flights, while also serving Koh Koot’s private airport.

SGA Airline plans to launch a new semi-schedule from Chiang Mai to nearby cities in January.

The airline also expects to take delivery of a new 11-seat Cessna Grand Caravan (C-208B) in the mid-December, which will be its second Cessna aircraft.

SGA’s third plane, expected to join the fledgling feet by the middle of next year, is expected to serve Koh Koot’s private airport owned by Six Senses Resorts and Spas, and scheduled to open by November 2007.

According to SGA, the second aircraft will be based in Chiang Mai, from where the airline plans to offer two daily flights to Chiang Rai, two daily flights to Pai in Mae Hong Son and one daily flight to Phrae Province .

An SGA executive said a Chiang Mai base puts the airline in position to operate charter services to other regional cities such as Luang Prabang in Laos and Jinghong in Yunan.

The airline is currently based in Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi Airport , in order to receive traffic feed from international airlines.

It operates four daily roundtrips flights between Bangkok and Hua Hin, through its partners and key resort operators, including the Evason Hua Hin.
