BANGKOK: -- A Thai high school student in Virginia, USA was charged last week for allegedly filming videos of classmates in the boys restroom.

Phatsakorn Pongpasit, 20-year-old senior student of Fairfax High School, was accused of using a cellphone to record other students using the stalls at the school's bathroom, according to Fairfax police.

On June 2, the school conducted an investigation after one student alerted the school administration, but it was reported that more than one student was filmed.

When I was in High Scool in California we had some older students from Asia and middle east getting their diplomas together and working on English/TOFul gettin' ready for US University studies. Nice when you have a 19 year old buddy with a full beard for beer runs.

Oh Yes,You can take the Thai out of Thailand but not take him from his Thainess.A senior at 20 years old,if it is not Arkansas or Alabama I think that he must be two or three older then his class mates.

The US tends to go into a frenzy when any crime resembles "child porn"...this guy's future is ruined in the US...if he's convicted, his life in prison will be quite difficult, as inmates love to smash pedos to gain status among their peers...if he's innocent, then he will need to report his arrest anytime he applies for employment...most employers could forgive a small crime such as marijuana possession...but not taking photos in a toilet...I'm sure he thought 15 USD could clear any problem should he be caught...but very few Western cops and prosecutors can be bought for 15 bucks...and then there are the civil lawsuits from the students who are sure to be "traumatized" by the event...Why didn't he just use his phone to access some porn website? Stupid, stupid, stupid...

I am guessing if he is convicted he will get a reduced or suspended sentence. The reason for this is then they can begin with the deportation process. Also because as a child pornography case it is a very minor one in this category of offenses. He will then most likely be blacklisted from the states as he will be a registered sex offender.

Kind of a strange case here that he was 20 and in high school. I already read the reason for this but this would otherwise have been probably treated as juvenile mischief. Hope he has family back in Thailand because his path to US citizenship has basically been quashed. His physical appearance and most likely mental age would have probably been on par with that of his peers in the school. He basically just screwed his entire life up unless he can afford a very good attorney.

And no i don't condone what he did.

If he is innocent he can file for the record to be expunged. This costs money and takes a bit of time but can be done. Other than that I share some of your sentiments here.

Maybe they should think if it is wise in the future to enroll adults into schools for children? Thinking a little more about this the school in question could very likely be open to a law suit for exposing children to adult students.

Welcome to America Nong Phatsakorn. The land of totally confused sexuality and transgender bathrooms. You obviously have now become a 'sexual deviant' in the eyes of the puritanical and sexually confused US justice system for doing something that wouldn't raise an eye-brow in Thailand. Best to tell your attorney that and use it in your defense. And invoke the race card and tell them you're transsexual too. In fact, tell them you were all transsexuals and wanted to take picture to free the world from sexual bigotry. Wake up and smell the roses Nong. Yep. I'm sure that the Thai folk who travel to the US and then drive like they do in Thailand also wake up and smell the roses in a hurry too.

"I have to 'maintain my lane? I didn't know."
"I can't 'tailgate'? I didn't know."

"I can't speed until I see a roadblock. I didn't know."

"i can't bribe my way out of this. I didn't know." (serious jail time)

"I can't take pictures in the men's room. I didn't know. Honest! I'm not a sexual deviant. I didn't know. Mom! Dad! Ahhhhhhh!" (serious jail time)

"And the 'I didn't know' defense doesn't work in the US. I didn't know."

But than again, the "I'm farang and don't understand the confession I signed nor the confession beaten out of me" defense doesn't work at home (your home) for us foreigners either. Quid pro quo.

Sorry. Life's not fair.

Yes he will have to register as a sex offender. As I said earlier this is likely to result in whatever visa he has being cancelled.

Well, unless dad is a diplomat or some other big wig with clout. Then just like The Land of Smiles, it can be swept under the rug.

TV BMs convict this fellow of sex crimes and pornography without ever seeing the video? I didn't see where penis or penii were filmed. I didn't read where the 'victims' were naked or under 18. A lapse in judgement for sure but I'd hesitte to ruin a guys life for filming where no private parts are visible.

I do not agree with what the guy is accused of. Money doesn't shout in the USA like it does in Thailand but it does talk.

With this and with the story of the Brit Peado who was jailed this week, the people I feel sorry for are the parents and siblings, the shame must be unbearable.

In this case it is a little premature to label the guy a peado and a pecker watcher as by all accounts the video does not show nudity. Stupid - yes, a peado that remains to be seen. The current generation film and photo everything.

How many of you here in Thailand photo your kids in the swimming pool? What was once just an innocent photo of family fun can now get you arrested in the UK and charged with child porn if other children are anywhere near bye, yet all you are doing is innocently taking pictures of your kids splashing in the pool. In the UK you would have to get permission of every parent of every child present to take photos of your own kids in the pool. If this young man were just acting without thinking and not doing anything remotely connected to child sex offences, don't you agree that it would be a travesty and in no way would justice be served by destroying this mans life at 20 yrs old and incarcerating him in one of the most cruel prison systems in the world.

the school he is in allows hs students up to age 22 seems it is a school where they can go if they have poor language skills or other reasons for delay. it is not known how old the students he filmed were. if close to his age he is not necesarly a pedophile. likely just gay that wanted a personal video.

Child pornography? Give us a break: it's someone who is struggling with his identity and has no outlet. He shouldn't be crucified for this serious error of judgement. Since when are high school seniors categorised as children. Some common sense....and appropriate treatment rather than punitive...should apply. Political correctness gone mad however unsavoury the episode.

Guess the police in checking his mobil phone found other evidence that may be used against him in a court

of law. He was in court today, so charges have been filed. It was also mentioned he was held and not released on bail. He may be in deep sh..before its all said and done.
