DDPM coordinates with 21 provinces to prepare for heavy rains

BANGKOK, 7 June 2016 (NNT) – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has coordinated with the authorities in 21 provinces in northern, northeastern, central and eastern Thailand to make preparations for heavy rains.

According to the Meteorological Department, there are still heavy downpours in the 21 provinces including Chiang Rai, Payao, Nan, Prae, Uttaradit, Tak, Loei, Udorn Thani, Nong Bua Lampoo, Nong Khai, Sakon Nakorn, Chaiyapoom, Nakorn Ratchasima, Mukdahan, Ubon Ratchathani, Pitsanulok, Kampaengpet, Chonburi, Rayong, Chantaburi and Trat.

Those living in risk areas should beware of accumulated rains, closely follow weather forecasts and strictly follow the warnings.

The DDPM has coordinated with those provinces to brace for possible disasters by setting up rapid response teams, preparing equipment and tools for use in risk areas in order to immediately help any victims.

Free umbrellas?

Lots of activity planned. running around like headless chickens... I wonder if someone could invent some salt mixture they can throw out of a plane to make it stop raining. If BS made it start, BS can make it stop - right? Now, who's the greatest inventor in the country?

Stands to reason...

Until the ground gets softened there will be run offs and formerly dry klongs may flood a bit.

The klong over the road from where I live was dry as a bone 3 weeks ago.

It is now 2 metres wide and perhaps 30 cm deep and it is all from the heavy rain coming down from the Mae Wong national park.

The klong is also where the government water supply comes from after being filtered and the good news is that has returned after 5 1/2 months.

And watch it disapear ,no waer managment. What happens when one season it does not come. We never think about the most presious resource we have, until we don't have it!

Not a disaster, just Mother Nature doing her thing. Bring on the rain.post-9891-0-69609400-1465358651_thumb.jp

It will always come but the amount varies year on year.

A lot that has fallen this month has gone to fill the klongs that feed the rivers that in turn feed the dams. Some of that went underground to fill the aquifers for the bore holes and wells.
