OBEC introduces alcohol, smoke free school network

BANGKOK, 8 June 2016 (NNT) – The Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC) has unveiled an education institute model that will be free from smoke and alcohol, publishing the alcohol-free school manual achieved through love, knowledge, and moral.

The Ministry of Education, StopDrink Network, and Thai Health Promotion Foundation, held an event at the Ministry of Education which unveiling the alcohol-free school manual and network, as part of the national reform of education along with methods to prevent and solve problems related to alcohol and tobacco use among students.

The manual was written based on experiences shared in model schools in the four regions that were examined to see what changes might need to be made in educational institutes. The concept is to promote morals and to point out the harm of all vices in order to grant immunity to students in parallel with promoting the pursuit of knowledge.

The event was attended by teachers and students from 30 core network education institutes nationwide.

According to the OBEC, youths outside of schools who drink alcohol are 2.8 times more at risk to try narcotics and get some form of cancer, while a good environment and knowledge among teachers, friends, and families, can help reduce the risk of involvement with alcohol and drugs.

Introduce as much as you want folks then comes the tricky bit of getting students to comply which will be no mean feat.

''The concept is to promote morals and to point out the harm of all vices in order to grant immunity to students in parallel with promoting the pursuit of knowledge.''

That's nice and clear then...

We will set an objective that is not easily understood and cannot be measured, therefore we will ensure we cannot fail.

Note to secretary. Please plan awards ceremony for June 2017 (5* resort, 3 days minimum).

Is the sentence grammatically correct? Looks okay to me. Ergo, it makes sense.

Often I've been asked to check some English. Sure, no grammatical errors, but it makes no sense. "What do you mean?" I mean I don't have a clue what you're talking about. Just because something is grammatically correct - doesn't mean it makes sense.

"But you're a native speaker!" I can only imagine all the Thai stuff written that makes zero sense. Does anyone say anything? Do they b*****. Life just goes on with people not only none the wiser, but also confused.

And I thought the schools were going to be drink and smoke free ,no more drunk teaches and parties with alcohol

All the teachers I know are pissheads

Great system, already knowledge free, soon to be smoke free and alcohol free too. Trouble is they have to travel to Cambodia for their free milk!
