Paid Once Per Year: Can You Get A Long Term Visa Based On 40k?

Featured Replies

JR Texas (51, USA): Hypothetical situation:

A foreigner (US citizen) is married to a Thai woman. She can't work. The foreigner wants to get a long term visa based on the new 40K per month rule. He works overseas. He gets paid 480000 baht per year. And he gets paid only one time per year.

In other words, he gets paid enough to meet the new rule, but he only gets paid once per year.

Is there a visa solution for this person? Would immigration simply divide the 480000 by 12 to get 40K per month? No problem? Or would they reject his visa application? :o

Yes. Yes. Yes. No.

From Police Order No. 606/2006, paragraph 7.17(6):

6) In case of the applicant who is married to a Thai wife, one of them or both of them need to have the total annual income that is averaged out not less than 40,000 Baht per month.

JR Texas (51, USA): Reply to Maestro: But that makes sense. It is logical. Something must be wrong. Remember, we are talking about Thailand's visa rules and regulations. Oh well.........miracles sometimes happen. Thanks for the information. :D
