BANGKOK: -- A Thai man has been arrested for ordering the contract killing of his son after a disagreement over a 100 million baht land sale.

Pasapon Ratanasatyathikun was shot dead on May 1st and dumped beside the Somdej - Pa Suay Road in Kalasin province reported Thairath.

His father Wirat Ratanasatyathikun, 73, was arrested on a warrant at a house in Huay Kwang, Bangkok yesterday. Three men have been arrested on charges of carrying out the contract killing - they are Chuchai Phimpithak, apprehended in the Lat Pla Khao area of Bangkok yesterday and Kittipop Khreuayai and Manoon Patramethaporn, an ex soldier, both arrested earlier.

Police said that the killing resulted from a 100 million baht land deal. The land belonged to the father while the son wanted 7 million from the sale. The son had stashed two guns at their home and when the father found them he believed he was going to be shot so he got in first and put out a contract on his own son , said police.

So let me see now, as it stand now, the father is left with no land, no son and no freedom and no future,

now that's what I call acting first think later......

Now come on let's be fair, he thought up an excuse to explain why he had his son murdered over 7% of a land deal.

Is dad ex-military, he used the well known tactic of a pre-emptive strike ?

Not exactly the best defence in a murder charge though.

Don't know if you are correct. The father has 100 million in the bank. More than enough to buy his way out of prison I think....

of course not just thailand, any multitude of places life is cheap.

100 mill is not peanuts, but what did the hitmen charge and what did the tools to do the job cost?, in some terms i reckon it would not be expensive.

Aah, the age old question. Give the son a small part of your fortune before you die, or hire a team of hit men? What to do? what to do?

Land of money grabbing, greedy scum. Said it before and Ill say it many more times, Thais and money is a lethal combination. You need common sense, intelligence and reason to handle money all of which the natives are lacking.

I was told by my dil what the article does not mention the son was probably richer or at least as rich as his father, owning a company and a lot of land. blink.png

I was also told that the Thai version stated the father learned of the sons plot to kill him.. not just the finding of 2 guns. And that the father decided to beat the son to it. However, perhaps some of the story has changed since yesterday when that was released.

And all because the son wanted 7 of the 100 million? John Gotti had nothing on these people. Pure thugs and murderers. Just shows the greed of some people. Aged 73 and still can not give his son something from the deal other than a bullet

nope, i think you read me wrong, married to a fantastic thai lady for over ten years, her family are great people.

one of my former clients, at the age of 16, shot dead his parents because they would not let him go swimming with his mates, so i do know nasty and illogical crimes happen anywhere.

i am more aware of peoples actions than most, first responders and battle front soldiers know these things as well.

Yes, but this is thaivisa and we're talking about this particular case.

Like I said before - what gets a lot of people annoyed is the hypocrisy here. This whole 'Thai love Thais' and 'family is number 1'. True for the majority. but also not true for some (in Thailand and Farangland).

I had a girl tell me before that Thais love their families very much. I replied "So do us foreigners". She came off as incredibly sanctimonious.

"But you live here and not with family" she replied. I told her that's perfectly normal in my culture. There's nothing wrong with moving abroad, and there's nothing wrong with living with your family. It's a choice you make. The onus in the west is usually on the parents wanting their kids to be free and happy. Where the onus here is more on making your parents happy. There's no wrong or right.

End of the day just call a spade a spade. And always beware of people preaching morality. We are human after all.
