Rental would be about 1000 baht if i am not wrong hunt around . may even get you as low as

700-800 baht ..

the trip up using Vios is about 650 baht gas - return .

- i just got back from a trip driving to mae sai .. using my father benz . about 1400baht on gas alone ..

so the best way by far is toyota Vios .. 1600cc cars ..
